For those of you new to New Brunswick and/or Pickle Planet, welcome!! We’ve been the go-to resource for family-friendly information on where to go & what to do in Greater Moncton since 2015.

We love creating this annual list of March Break activities for you to get out & enjoy with your family. We also have lots of other ‘What to Do in Greater Moncton’ posts, like arcades, swimming, and more. We’re working to update them all, now that pandemic restrictions are starting to lift in the province.

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

Kick off March Break with a visit to Bennic! The Dieppe location reopens for the season on March 4 at 1pm.

The Town of Sackville has lots of March Break programming, including a Family Fun Day at Beech Hill Park on Saturday, March 5, 1-3pm. Snowshoeing, sledding, taffy on the snow, and more!

The City of Dieppe is holding a treasure hunt in Rotary St-Anselme Park on Saturday & Sunday, March 5 & 6. Sign up at the park’s hot chocolate station!

We hear great things about The Healing Farm outside Miramichi. They’re celebrating their one year anniversary on Saturday, noon till 5pm. Meet the animals ($2 for a bag of feed), enjoy hot chocolate and sledding, and a winter campfire. (You can also book private sessions at the therapy barn on other days; $25/hour.)

Looking for art lessons for youngsters? Maplewood Studios offers lessons starting at age 9; you can get a feel for the vibe and what’s available at their open house Sunday, March 6 at 1pm.

Sunday, March 6 there’s a Girl Power Drag Brunch at the Old Triangle! Cosmic Justice and Boobra Streisand will be celebrating International Women’s Day.

Sunday Winter openings at the Zoo begin March 6! Each Sunday in March the Magnetic Hill Zoo is open 11am – 3pm.

The Cape Breton Eagles will be in town Sunday, March 6 for an afternoon game against the Moncton Wildcats. Check out the great set up Par-T-Perfect will have on site for the kiddos!

Boyle Family Farm is offering sunset horseback rides March 7 through 13, starting at 4:30pm. They also have riding sessions Wednesdays through Sundays, at 10am, 1pm, and 3pm. (Their market is schedule to reopen in the Spring.)

Snapology is offering a free, virtual Pokémon escape challenge through the Town of Shediac on Monday, March 7 at 11am. There are limited spaces; the event is in French. An English version will be held Wednesday, March 9.

Dance Envy is presenting a workshop at the Shediac Multipurpose Centre on Monday at 2pm on Monday, March 7.

The enchanting Féeli Tout is offering a free, virtual reading at 10am on Tuesday, March 8 through the Town of Shediac. A wonderful morning of stories awaits!

The Town of Shediac invites everyone to play board games at the Multipurpose Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

A free slam poetry workshop for kids is being held online Wednesday afternoon, March 9. (This is a French event.)

We love the fun outdoor options at Off Grid Adventure near Elgin! There are two night rock climbing & ropes course events happening during March Break. Wednesday, March 9 and Saturday, March 12 from 6-9pm. Just $30/family or $10/person. (Not up for an evening adventure? Day time visits are also available, from noon to sunset.)

The Moncton Wildcats host Sherbrooke Phoenix Wednesday, March 9 at 7pm.

Shediac’s Multipurpose Centre will transform into a zoo on Thursday, March 10 with the Travel to You Zoo. Meet pigs, ferrets, rabbits, turtles, snakes, and more from 1-4pm. (This is a free event.)

Quebec magician Manu Savoie is offering a free, online magic show on Zoom, thanks to the Town of Shediac! Tune in Thursday, March 10 at 3pm; for all ages.

Thursday in Sackville there are winter activities at Bill Johnstone Park at 6pm, followed by fireworks at 7:30pm.

Have a kiddo who’s into table top gaming – or looking for a night out for yourself? Tidal Board Gaming hosts Thursday night sessions in Riverview. Check them out!

Llama-zing Adventures will be at Shediac’s Pascal Poirier Park on Friday, March 11 from 10am until noon. Meet the animals and enjoy a hot chocolate.

Friday afternoon the movie Secretariat will play for free (in English) at the Shediac Multipurpose Centre.

Farmer Brown’s Greenhouse is always planning great events. Be sure to check out their March Break Madness Event on March 12, from 10am-3pm. Sliding, s’mores, snowshoeing, farm animals, and more. Entrance fee $5 adults & $3 children. Additional activities offered at a fee, including a build your own herb container workshop, face painting, cookie decorating, build-a-bear, and more. Don’t forget their amazing wood-oven pizza, too!

The Moncton Wildcats host the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday, March 12 at 7pm.

Saturday, March 12 is the night for Shediac’s Got Talent! Singing, dancing, magic – who knows?

Wrap up March Break with a laugh – catch a live taping of The Debaters at the Capitol Theatre Sunday night! (Again, not necessarily an outing for the whole family, as they note: language may be inappropriate for younger audiences.)

MAPLE SUGAR SHACKS

It’s that sweet, sweet time of year again – the sap is flowing & maple season is starting!

Trites Maples opens for the season March 5. They’re open Saturdays & Sundays until April 17, 9am – 3pm. Head for the “4th camp with the green metal roof” at the end of Maple Ridge Trail, about a 15-minute walk from where you can park at 1270 Gorge Road in Moncton.

Renton Brothers is opening for the season on March 12; watch their social media for updates. (You’ll also find them starting from 1270 Gorge Road.)

Llama-zing adventures has lots of options for March Break; check their schedule for pop-up visits, book walks with the animals, and more.

Did you know there’s a disc golf course at Claude D Taylor school in Riverview? It’s becoming quite popular!

If you’re looking for trails to explore, check out Hiking NB for great options & information.

Broadleaf Ranch is a great nearby staycation destination – or just book a trail ride and enjoy a hearty meal!

Have you completed the City of Moncton’s Culture & Heritage Scavenger Hunt? A great way to explore & learn about the city!

A FEW ROAD TRIP IDEAS

Explore a sweet piece of New Brunswick’s history with a visit to the Chocolate Museum in St. Stephen. They’re opening March 5 to 12 with hourly tours starting at 10am and a chance to create your own chocolate bark. Be sure to book in advance!

The Huntsman Marine Science Centre’s Fundy Discovery Aquarium is open for March Break, from 10am – 5pm from March 5 through 13. A visit to St. Andrew’s is always fun – and the Algonquin Resort has special March Break packages and activities, including a visit from Raina the Halifax Mermaid!

Sugarloaf Park is a great New Brunswick option for family skiing adventures. Check out their snow castle! It’s also one of the only places we know of to rent tubes for sliding – just $5 for a two-hour rental.

If you’re up for a PEI adventure, Charlottetown is hosting Ice City Festival until March 13. Sugar Shacks on outdoor patios, horse & wagon rides, ice carving contest, skating, and more!
