New Brunswick Staycation Summer ideas in Sussex & Fundy Region

The Staycation Summer Series is all about sharing the best New Brunswick has to offer. From travel tips to restaurant recommendations, this series invites guests from around province to proudly share the hidden gems and must-see spots in their hometowns.

On this episode, Alaina Lockhart takes us to her hometown of Sussex and the Fundy Region. Alaina is an entrepreneur, a community builder, and the former Parliamentary Secretary to Small Business and Tourism during her time as the Member of Parliament for the area. Be sure to listen to the full episode to hear her dish on her favourite places to share with visitors to Sussex, Fundy, and New Brunswick!

A few gems Alaina mentions:

Crooked Creek Lookout is a roughly 1km, easy hike in Riverside-Albert. Keep this one on the list for a fall visit – the colours will be spectacular!

Sussex Ale Works, under the helm of Alesmith Rick Lockhart, is a “fun place to connect and unwind,” the perfect place to enjoy a pint after an adventure. Be sure to tell them Pickle Planet sent you!

Sussex Bluffs will provide you with one of the most spectacular views you can imagine! This is a longer hike, roughly 2km each way, so be prepared. It’s not a hard go with kids (Tosh went this year with her girls), but it’s not a quick diversion. Make and plan and enjoy!

Fundy Trail Parkway is an incredible portion of New Brunswick’s coastline, with beaches, hiking trails, waterfalls, and more to explore. Be sure to include this in your plans – multiple times! (Please note: this is a paid entry trail, and the gates do have specific hours. Take some time to check out their website before heading out.)

Gasthof Old Bavarian Restaurant is a Pickle Planet favourite as well! This truly is a one-of-a-kind New Brunswick gem that will have you feel like you’ve discovered the best secret around! Don’t forget to plan a trip to nearby Cornhill Nursery, too.

What other Sussex and Fundy spots would you add to this Staycation Must-Visit List? Share in the comments; we want to hear them all!
