What to do with the kids this weekend in Greater Moncton (Oct 18-20, 2024)

Welcome to a weekend filled with spooktacular fall events! We’ve rounded up Halloween events, Fall Festivals, & more to keep the whole family entertained this weekend. A reminder to click through the source links to check for updates & any changes, and be sure to let the organizers know Pickle Planet sent you!

It’s quickly becoming one of the must-attend Halloween traditions – the annual Salisbury Pumpkin Walk at Highland Park. Community groups decorate jack-o-lanterns to fill the park walkways with light. Wear your costumes and enjoy treats along the way! This is a short event, just 6-7pm, and the treats are while supplies last. (Bonus: You might even get to see me in costume! Say hello if you do!)

The Moncton Wildcats host Chicoutimi tonight, 7pm. It’s 80s theme night!

It’s also 80s night at the Roller Disco at the Moncton Coliseum! There’s a low sensory skate from 4-6pm (all ages), a family skate from 6-8pm, and a 16+ skate after that. Skate rentals are available; you must bring a helmet for those 12 & under.

Boyle Family Farm’s Haunted Corn Maze begins tonight with a ‘scary as hell’ version open from 6-10pm.

ArtsLinkNB & ArtsAtlantic are hosting a conference this weekend in Moncton, with several events that are free to the public, as well as some events that you can purchase individual passes to attend. There are some great speakers & events – a great program to review if you have older kids (or yourself!) interested in the arts.

✨ Akadi Lumina is open until October 19.

The Salisbury Lions Club is hosting a pancake breakfast this morning, 7-10am. Preschoolers eat free; children ages six to 10 $5 & others $10. Always a great meal! Follow it up with a visit to the Salisbury Farmers Market & the Antique Mall, grab lunch at Gaxiola Mexican restaurant, & then head to the Fall Festival in Highland Park!

Boo at the Zoo begins today! Enter between 10am & 4pm; Halloween activities end at 5pm. There are lots of spaces decorated in a not-at-all scary way, as well as some that are very scary and not recommended for those under 12 (they’re marked, so you can avoid if needed!). The animals are out and about, there’s a scavenger hunt, and food available for purchase on site. This is a fundraising event; regular admission rates apply. (We highly recommend purchasing online in advance if possible!) Adults are $15, youth & seniors $14, children ages three to 12 $12, and those two and under are free. (While Boo at the Zoo activities are only on the weekend, the Zoo is open daily until October 31. Many of the displays will be visible if you visit during the week.)

There’s a craft fair at the Riverview Lions Club, with two floors of vendors, trick-or-treating for kids, and free face painting. Costumes encouraged! Open 10am-3pm.

There’s a Spooky Slime Workshop (ages seven to 12) at the Moncton Library, 10:30-11:30am. Registration required.
