What to do with the kids this weekend in Greater Moncton (June 21-23, 2024)

Welcome to summer, everyone! School is out, the heat is on, and we’ve got LOTS of info to help you make the most of this weekend & more!

In case you missed it – Moncton turned on its splash pads earlier than planned this year, so you can cool down at many locations around the city. Check their map to see which ones have the water on already – but all of them are planned to be operating by Saturday! City pools are also planned to open on Saturday, too! Riverview’s splash pad is on, as is the Rotary Splash Pad in Dieppe.

FRIDAY, JUNE 21

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day & everyone is welcome to celebrate at Fort Folly! There will be food & craft vendors, music, & more at Fort Folly First Nation (Bernard Trail Road in Dorchester) from 10:30am-3pm.

There’s also a great free celebration happening at noon at Bore Park, with Sistema NB children’s orchestra from Elsipogtog First Nation.

Magic Mountain’s Splash Zone opens today! Golf & Tek Zone are open, too!

Rotary Ribfest is on again! Entrance to the Riverfront Park site is free; enjoy live music, a variety of BBQ features, and a great atmosphere.

Celebrate Go Skateboarding Day with the official opening of the all-wheels park at YMCA Moncton North at 4pm.

SkyZone is holding a Summer Kick Off party with a live DJ, games, prizes, & fun throughout the day and their Friday GLOW night from 7-10pm (wear white or fluorescent).

This weekend at Shediac’s Neptune Drive-In it’s Hit Man & The Watchers. At the Sussex Drive In, it’s Inside Out 2 & Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

SATURDAY, JUNE 22

Shediac is hosting a Summer Celebration at Pascal-Poirier Park, 10am-1pm, with a foam party, BBQ, face painting, bike rodeo, llamas, balloon twisting, & so much more!

BGC Dieppe is hosting a Summer Kick Off Party from 11am-2pm with bouncy castles, BBQ, outdoor games, face painting, & more!

Magic Mountain’s Fun Zone opens today – which means everything is open now daily through the summer!

Rotary Ribfest is on again! Entrance to the Riverfront Park site is free; enjoy live music, a variety of BBQ features, and a great atmosphere.

It’s roller derby time at the Coliseum! Doors open at 9:30am, there’s a breakfast showdown at 10:30am, a junior scrimmage at 12:45pm, and adult scrimmage at 3pm, and a ’90s themed roller disco 6-10pm.

Petitcodiac is hosting an open house at the fire department, 10am-2pm, with a chance to tour their new vehicles as well as ones from the RCMP, Ambulance NB, & more.

Al Salam Eid Festival welcomes everyone to Riverview’s Caseley Park, 2-6pm, for a celebration with bouncy castles, horses, face painting, henna, & more.

Chapters Moncton is hosting local author Jeff Somers with his book, Avery and the Special Shoe, noon to 4pm.

The Comic Hunter is hosting a free RPG day; a great chance if you have someone looking to get into gaming.

The Moncton Mustangs are playing a championship game against the Nova Scotia Buccaneers at Rocky Stone Field at 5pm.

Celebrate the Summer Solstice at Corn Hill Nursery, 8pm-midnight, with live music, bonfire with Swedish torches, an outdoor bar, & more. Free to attend.

SUNDAY, JUNE 23

Maritime Collectibles Market is back at the Rotary Lodge in Dieppe, 9:30am-2pm. Hot Wheels, sports, Pokémon, & more!

Maritimes Against Climate Change is hosting a clean up around Jones Lake, starting at 1pm. Meet up at the Jones Lake Plaza.

The Moncton Mets are playing the Charlottetown Islanders at Kiwanis Park at 4pm.

🦖 The Albert County Museum is open for the season, with a special guest – Albert, the Albertosaurus available to visit with starting June 15! (Open Saturdays & Sundays until June 15, then daily. You can buy a family season pass for $30; an amazing value for what this fantastic museum has to offer!)

🛹🚲 The YMCA Moncton North has a new outdoor park for skateboarding, roller skating, & biking. There’s also the amazing indoor splash pad & play structure – a must visit if you have little ones!

🛼 Dieppe is welcoming people to skate the Oval at Place 1604 with in-line skates for the summer!

🐯 The Magnetic Hill Zoo is now open seven days a week, 10am-4pm!

🏎️ East Coast Karting plans to be open Saturdays & Sundays until their full season begins.

🤘 BGC Dieppe is always a great place for families to connect – check out their May schedule.

🎾 Tennis Dieppe has their nets up and they’re inviting you to play for free until their season opens in mid-May.

⛳ The driving range at The Boardwalk is open 10am-8pm daily, weather permitting.  Weekend fund includes go karts, bumper cars & boats, mini golf, & paddle boats. Watch for more fun to come!

🚵 Poley Mountain has mountain bike trails, including beginner routes for ages 6+ – and they’re planning some summer events geared to the littles with bouncy castles, balance bikes on the lawn, & kid-friendly options on the Slope Side Bar & Grill. DYK: They have an RV park, too?

🎳 Bowling is always a fun idea! Go retro vibes with Marvelous Holy Bowly in Riverview, check out glow bowling times at Fairlanes in Moncton, or head to Bowlarama & its awesome arcade in Dieppe. (We recommend calling ahead to book in advance so you’re not disappointed.)

🎨 Creative mood? Try DIY Studio to paint your own pottery!

🔐 Up for a challenge? Room Escape Atlantic usually has a few non-scary, kid-friendly options & Mystery Moncton Mystere is great for the teens & up. There are also online options you can purchase to play on your own time, like … Motive for Murder audio game — A great ‘any time of day’ option for the true crime fans who are up for a little hometown sleuthing. Download a whodunnit set in Moncton!

🎲 If board games are your family thing, check out the new shop on Moncton’s Main Street, Board Miniatures! The have a standing paint and play tabletop session on Sundays.

👶 The Early Childhood Family Resource Centre has lots of drop-in & scheduled events throughout the month, both at its Dieppe location and its satellite locations. Check out their online calendars for details; a great option for littles throughout the week!

🐟 Bass Pro’s 12,000-gallon freshwater aquarium with striped bass, Atlantic sturgeon, trout, perch, and more is always fun to visit. And of course, the Easter Bunny is on site now, too!

🦙 Llamazing Adventures is a great way to get out & get moving! Take the llamas for a walk!

📚 Local libraries are always a great spot to visit, with lots of programming for all ages.

🏫 Resurgo Place is another spot we love to visit again & again; history, hands-on science & arts, & special programming, too!

👟 The walking/running track at Université de Moncton’s Croix Bleue Medavie Stadium is open for public use Mondays-Fridays, 8:30am-4:30pm (unless there’s a competition or event). You can access two hours of free parking & the use of the track is free.

  • Riverview’s SUNFEST kicks off with a Silly Walk along the Riverfront, a free concert with Ivan & Vivian Hicks, a skateboarding competition & BBQ, Art in the Park, & a free concert with the East Coast Brass and Youth Brass Quintet
  • Shediac’s Pascal-Poirier Park will host a family wellness event, 6-8pm (free), with inflatables, dancing, face painting, & more.
  • Petitcodiac is holding a School’s Out Celebration at the ball field with family games from 11am-12pm, a hot dog BBQ at the BGC at noon, then a free public swim at the outdoor pool.

  • YMCA Block Party @ Knox Park, (75 Knox St.), 6-8pm
  • BGC Moncton is hosting SparkFest at Riverfront Park, noon to 9pm.
  • Enjoy a free outdoor showing of Kung Fu Panda 4 at Caseley Park at dusk as part of SUNFEST.
  • The Salisbury Lions Pool is holding a summer opening party, noon-2pm (rain date Friday). Music, food, games, and free swimming!
