Moncton’s Candlewood Park
CANDLEWOOD PARK & PLAYGROUND IN MONCTON
Moncton’s Candlewood Park is another hidden gem, a wonderfully maintained playground tucked away in a quiet residential neighbourhood just minutes from the Trans Canada Highway.
If you’re looking for a great picnic spot while traveling, this could be your answer – though the lack of washrooms might not be ideal if you’re looking for full service options.
The Candlewood Park includes a swing set (two infant and two other seats when we visited), two climbing structures (both toddler friendly), a basketball/pickle ball/tennis court that’s an ice surface in winter, a large grassy area, lots of benches and a picnic shelter, as well as a splash pad.
The big attraction for our little pickles: the spinny seats!
The larger play structure has three sides, one of them double, and a small monkey bar circle.
The smaller structure features two slides and a climbing area.
The splash pad wasn’t running when we visited, but it looks like a great little space to cool down on a hot day!
You can find Candlewood Park at 90 Candlewood Drive, just off the Trans Canada Highway and Mapleton Road in Moncton. It’s a quick turn to your right off Mapleton onto Queensway, in front of the Holiday Inn Express. (Which also makes this playground close to Moncton’s Hampton by Hilton, for those traveling in the area.)
As of July 2020, the City of Moncton’s has a new way to check conditions at local parks & playgrounds – including showing which of their 20 splash pads have the water running! Click here to access their interactive map; the playgrounds with water features show up with a blue background.
