Riverview’s Hawthorne Drive Park
What a fantastic spot! If you’re looking for neat equipment and cool views of Moncton, head to Riverview’s Hawthorne Drive Park. It’s a bit of an oddly spaced out play area, but so fun! This playground is on the way to Fundy National Park (about a one hour drive to go!), with large parking spaces if you were traveling and looking for a spot to burn off some little one’s energy!
There is a large lot next to one end of the park where you can leave your vehicle, but there isn’t easy access to the play area. You have to walk a few feet along the road to get to the path down to the first play section. (Keep reading, there’s a better spot to park, but first our overview of what we call the zip line section.)
Here you can find a funky climbing wall, two saucer platform swings, a great little look off and a picnic spot, as well as a zip line!
We also found lots of geese when we visited!
You can follow the path to the second play area, which features a play structure with a few slides and more swings. This is also where you’ll find the proper park entrance and better parking with little ones.
This section of Hawthorne Drive Park features a double slide on a little hill, a typical play structure with both a double and a single slide, and a swing set with two traditional swings, an infant swing, and an accessible swing.
We could see where the Town of Riverview has planted some trees; as they grow, additional shade will be welcome in this great space.
The views were so fantastic and the space so different, we’ll be heading here again soon! You can find the Hawthorne Drive Park by setting your GPS for anywhere on Hawthorne Drive in Riverview. You’ll be turning off Hillsborough Road, we’d suggest on to Emery Street. The Town’s website states the space was created in 2015 and includes a baseball diamond, natural play area, and a traditional play space.
Here are a few more of our favourite Riverview parks! Bridgedale is just a few minute further along the way to Fundy, and Hillsborough’s fenced-in playground is also a perfect spot along the way to the National Park. Travelers might also want to check out our profile of Salisbury’s Highland Park, just five minutes off the Trans Canada Highway!
