What to do with the kids this weekend in Greater Moncton (March 21-23, 2025)

Welcome to the first official weekend of SPRING! The snow is quickly disappearing, the days are longer, and there’s so much to look forward to this season – so let’s dive right in, shall we?

This should be a perfect weekend to head to the sugar camps and show off your Canadian pride! We have our full Guide to Maple Sugar Camps with tons of details, but here’s the quick info you want locally this weekend:

Maple Sugar Camps in the Greater Moncton Area

  • 🍁Renton Brothers Family Sugarbush is filled with family history; it’s a 5th generation tradition! They’re at 1270 Gorge Road in Moncton; the blue building with the smiley face. They’re open to the public Saturdays & Sundays, 9:30am-4pm.   • 🍁Trites Maples offers pancake breakfasts starting at 8am on Saturdays (cash only; until April 12). On Sundays, you can enjoy a tour at 10am, noon, & 2pm. Head for the “4th camp with the green metal roof” at the end of Maple Ridge Trail, about a 15-minute walk from where you can park at 1270 Gorge Road in Moncton.   • 🍁Fundy Maple can be found at 6 Dewey Road, Turtle Creek, on the outskirts of Riverview. They’re open Fridays and Saturdays, 10am-3pm, with free tours at 11am and 1pm. (You can also email to book a private tour.)
  • 🍁Château Scoudouc is about a 15 minute drive from Downtown Moncton & has the cutest little shop filled with dozens and dozens of maple products! Their season is March 1 – April 27, 2025 – with brunches 9am-1pm on Saturdays & Sundays. Guided tours are offered in French at 1:30pm & in English at 3pm.
  •  White’s Maple in Hillsborough opens this weekend, with pancake breakfasts Saturday & Sunday!
  • 🍁And for those 19+ who like a little indulgence, I highlight suggest checking out Maple Fest at Magnetic Hill Winery! You can enjoy a free sample of their amazing maple swish wine – straight from the barrel! They also have two fantastic maple cocktails and a special maple dessert board that is perfect to share!

Looking for a fun spring extra-curricular for your elementary aged kiddo? Check out the Artshine class being offered at Moncton’s Kay Arena! Tuesday evenings, 6-7:30pm; you can get 8 weeks for just $150+tx — and if you use code PICKLE15 you can snag an extra 15% off! Your artist will work on recreating classic works of art with a twist, cursive writing, vibrant vehicle themes, and drawing fantasy creatures! Spaces are limited; registration closes March 31.

Ready for the beach? BGC Dieppe’s popular Beach Party is tonight! Just $5/person, you can enjoy bouncy castles, food & drinks, arts & crafts, music, & more! Great fun for the whole family, 6-8pm.

Tonight is the Moncton Wildcat’s annual Fan Appreciation Game! They face off against the Halifax Moosehead at 7pm.

BGC Moncton is hosting a Youth Market today, 2-4:30pm, at 15 Everett Street. Come out and support the young makers!

Beloved Miniature Horses is having an Open Farm Day today. Stop by 11am-3pm (admission is $10, children under three are free; pony rides are an additional $10) to visit with mini horses, bunnies, chickens, and more!

The 1st Moncton St. George’s Scouts is holding a dessert party fundraiser, 11:30am-3:30pm, at St. George’s Church (51 Church Street, Moncton). Enjoy fricot or potato soup, tea/coffee, and all you can eat dessert!

The fabulous children’s author Cindy Roy will be at the Dieppe Public Library at 2pm for a special free reading event, as part of the celebrations for Semaine de la Francophonie. (There’s a comic workshop in the morning for those ages eight to 12 with the awesome Camille Perron-Cormier; spaces are limited and registration is required. Call 506-877-7945.)

There’s an Easter egg embroidery workshop at the Ukrainian Hub today. Spaces are limited, so check the sign up now.

Loopy Wool is hosting two workshops today: basket weaving in the morning and felted Easter eggs in the afternoon. Cost is $105 for each session.

The  Codiac Cyclones Speed Skating Club is hosting the Canadian Short Track Youth Championship East today & tomorrow at Arena Arthur-J-Leblanc in Dieppe.

The annual Poley Mountain Slush Cup is happening today. A fun way to say goodbye to winter!

Sunday winter openings at the Zoo are a Moncton tradition! Visit with winter hardy animals, as well as those inside the Ecodome and the Imaginarium, purchase maple treats at the mobile sugar bush, search for clues in the outdoor scavenger hunt, enjoy free hot chocolate and cookies (while supplies last), and take in presentations at 11:30am with the otters, 1pm with the caribou, and tigers at 2pm.

Discovery Lab Sundays return to Resurgo Place, with a new guest each until the end of April! These special presentations are included with your regular admission and are a great way to add a little extra time and fun to your visit. This week, visit with folks from the Albert County Museum. Next up is Joel Culligan UrbanstyleArt (March 30), Théâtre Capitol Academy (April 6), MR21 – Digital Cathedral (Apr 13), and Science East (Apr 27).

Basketball fans? The Tri-City Tide host the Halifax Hoppers today. Game time is 3pm.

Board Miniatures (Main Street, Moncton) is hosting a full day Paint & Play event at the shop. Come out and paint a miniature, then enter it in the competition.

🏊‍♀️ The indoor splash pad at the YMCA North End is an amazing option for kiddos – with public openings every day of the week! Check the schedule as times vary day-to-day; cost to attend for non-member is $6.

🏊‍♀️ For indoor swimming, there are public options at the YMCA Greater Moncton (love their small, warmer pool for little ones), the Pat Crossman Aquatic Centre in Riverview, and the Dieppe Aquatic Centre (with the awesome sloped entry & pirate ship splash zone!).

👧 Hop! Skip! Jump! is perfect for little ones, as well as the cool climbing wall & laser room for older kids.

⚡Burn off energy at SkyZone Moncton; half-price entry on Tuesday nights, and Glow Zone on Fridays & Saturdays.

🏫  Resurgo Place is a spot we love to visit again & again; history, hands-on science & arts, & special programming, too! (Closed on Mondays, including long weekends.)

📚 Local libraries are always a great spot to visit, with lots of programming for all ages – and also another rainy day must visit option. (They’re closed on Monday.)

🤘 BGC Dieppe is always a great place for families to connect, with lots of programming open to everyone.

💚🦙 Llamazing Adventures is a great way to get out & get moving! Take the llamas for a walk!

💚 🗼 Pretend you’ve hopped a plane to France with a trip to Tony’s for pastries! (There are enough cute cafes to visit a new one each day – maybe even two a day if you can swing it!)

💚 Make a list of foods you haven’t tried & see what you can find at some of the newer grocery spots, like HS Empire Store or Varenyky.

🎧 There’s a roughly one hour iTour of downtown Moncton’s historical & cultural locations you can use to help you explore – a great way to add a little movement, a little history, and a little fun to your family outings! Be sure to check out all the amazing public art installations around the downtown core, too!

Art Room Moncton is hosting a fun Easter workshop for kids on April 5; registration closes March 25 & there were only a few spots left when we checked!

Bar Laitier Amiro Dairy Bar is opening for the season on March 28 at 3pm; that’s worth setting a reminder for!

Children’s author Eric Fontaine is holding a book launch at Cremerie Bennic Dairy Bar on March 29, 2-4pm.

The Fundy Fanciers Cat Show is coming to the Coverdale Centre in Riverview on March 29, 9am-3pm.
