PAW Patrol Footprint Art

I’m all fired up about this one! Who wouldn’t love some pups made from your own little one’s paws?!

Like most preschoolers these days, my kids love PAW Patrol. We also love footprint painting activities. So, we created six of our favourite pups in footprint form!

I know, poor Rubble got left out. My kids each picked two pups to create and Everest won. Maybe he’ll be our first handprint pup?!

By the way … Did you know PAW Patrol is Canadian?

PAW Patrol was created by Keith Chapman, the same man behind Bob the Builder, and is produced by Spin Master Entertainment. Spin Master is headquartered in Toronto. It’s the company behind Bakugan, Air Hogs, Little Charmers, and the Zoomer Dino, and many other products you’ve likely seen on your children’s wish lists. Makes this fun show an even greater hit with this Mama!

HOW TO MAKE PAW PATROL FOOTPRINT ART

This isn’t a typical ‘how to’ post for creating these PAWsterpieces because I didn’t put a whole lot of thought into this one, to be honest. Here’s what I can share:

I painted each kids’ foot with the basic pup colours, including any vests and hats. Think of the toes as paws.

When you have the basic outline, you can add in some detail after the paint dries a bit. I waited maybe 10 minutes between the initial footprint and the detail work.

I added ears, noses, and eyes. When it comes to the details, less is more in my experience. Don’t try to overdo it; this is kids’ artwork, remember? Simple circles for eyes and noses, a basic smile, and you’re done. (I use toothpicks for that part, as the area is pretty small and I find even small paintbrushes are too big.)

My best tip: keep a photo of each pup handy (I’m sure you’ve got a book or puzzle or DVD cover nearby!) and just follow along. Focus on getting the colours right and the rest should fall into place!

For some additional inspiration, here are closer images of each pup we created. We did these on a simple piece of 8.5×11 white cardstock, then I picked up some simple frames and viola! Art work that fills a wall in the play area perfectly!
