Looking to make some fun at home? Check out our post on how to create a wonderful spooktacular party! We also have the best tips for roasting pumpkin seeds, healthy snacks and creepy meals, and even a few crafts you can make with the kids. You can also check out five of the family Halloween costumes we’ve created over the last five years (we’re working on some PJ Mask magic for this year) and our awesome DIY photo booth prop made from an old wooden pallet.
Wondering who has decorated their houses for the occasion? There’s a Google Map with local houses marked, thanks to Halloween GMA. Check it out and go exploring!
Now, on to the events!
The Green Pig Market is a fantastic place to pick up some pumpkins and more – and to get lost in the corn maze, of course! The final flashlight maze nights are Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21. Bring your flashlight and head for the maze; open 7pm to 9pm. There’s a Haunted Maze on October 26, 27, & 28; open 7pm to 10pm, $12 per person. The same venue also hosts Zombie Wars, a paintball experience, on Friday and Saturday nights. Don’t forget – for little ones, the Green Pig’s small mazes are a perfect daytime outing! Three mini-mazes, hay bales to climb, and more, open 10am to 5pm. The pumpkin blaster is available Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 5pm.
You can also hunt zombies in Hillsborough, thanks to Atlantica Outdoor Recreation Centre. Their haunted paintball attraction is open October 20, 21, and 27; a basic 200-paintball round package is $25.
There’s a Haunted House in Cap Pele on Friday and Saturday, with a less-scary Saturday afternoon option.
Dorchester’s Keillor House is again hosting their Haunted House Tour (which we’re told can be a little too spooky for the younger kids). You can visit on October 20, 21, 27, or 28. Call 506-379-6633 for more information.
The annual Boo at the Zoo is back! Visit the Magnetic Hill Zoo on October 21, 22, 28, or 29; zoo will be open 9am to 6m, with Halloween activities from 11am to 4pm. There are sections of the Zoo decorated for the under-seven crowd, as well as areas with a little more fright. Admission includes the displays and visiting the animals; additional fees for pony rides, Halloween-themed mini-manicures, face painting, and food. Children three and under are free; rates range from $8.99 to $11.99. Call 506-877-7720 for more information.
Not a fan of scooping out the inside of a pumpkin? Why not try The Clayspace’s Make or Paint Your Own Jack-o-Lantern Day! This is a first come, first serve event; you can expect it to take you more than an hour to complete. Cost is $35 per pumpkin (family discounts are available); you can paint a pre-made pumpkin or create your own. Bring the kids to the Moncton Library on Saturday, October 21 at 10am for storytime with Fredericton’s Paul McAllister, reading his latest story, ‘A New Song for Herman.’ (Herman is an adorably drawn monster.) Stick around for a monster craft! Call 869-6000 to register.
Want to get spookily messy – without the mess to clean up at home? Michaels has a Glow in the Dark Slime activity happening on Saturday, October 21 from 1pm to 3pm. (The Kids Club craft on the 28th is treat bags.)

At 12:30, 2:30, and 4:30, kids (and parents!) can enjoy a live in-theatre performance where the audience interacts with performers and go trick-or-treating with the characters. It is suggested you pre-purchase tickets; the event lasts an hour and costs $22.

Shediac’s Pascal Poirier House will be transformed into a ‘creepy dollhouse’ October 26 – 28; Thursday and Saturday are described as ‘for the older children, more scary,’ while Friday’s event is meant for younger children or those less interested in being scared. There are $2 treat bags and other goodies for sale, too.
The Monster Trot is scheduled for Saturday, October 28 at the Moncton Coliseum. You can take the kids trick-or-treating through themed candy stations and enjoy a Bar-Boo!-Que. Cabela’s is inviting families to trick-or-treat within the store on October 31; drop in, in costume, from 11am to 7pm and get a Halloween map to point the way to departments ready for treat hunters.
The Boys & Girls Club of Dieppe is holding its annual Haunted House on Halloween. Stop by from 5:30pm to 8pm for treat bags! This is a free event. Call 857-3807 for more information.
FYI: The recent stories about age limits and time restrictions on trick-or-treating have led many to question what the rules are. We could find only two local communities promoting certain times; Shediac states that door-to-door trick-or-treating will take place between 4pm and 7pm & Dieppe has in the past said door-to-door trick-or-treating was allowed between 4pm and 8pm.
Whatever activities you and the kids attend this year, we hope you have a Happy Halloween!
Lots of amazing Halloween activities in the Moncton area, certainly something for everyone!
