What to do with the kids this weekend in Greater Moncton (July 18-20, 2025)

Hope you all managed the heat wave okay & are looking forward to some cooler days ahead! Here’s a snapshot of some of the large events this weekend: the Buskers Festival has free fun on the Riverfront Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, the Richibucto Scallop Festival of Beaurivage & Hillsborough Homecoming Days are underway, Lady Smith Manor’s 5th Annual Summer Market is a treat for the senses – and it’s your last weekend to hit up Four Girls Lavender! Time is also running out for strawberry season, but some places still have berries for you to pick. Check them out & enjoy a sweet taste of summer.

STRAWBERRY U-PICKS 

The Buskers Festival kicks off today, with free fun happening 11am to 10pm! There’s music 11am – 1pm, then the busker stages start rotating through the visiting performers! You can find the schedule on their website if you want to plan, or just head down and be surprised.

The Eastern Elite volleyball championships are underway at the Moncton Coliseum, featuring 16U divisions (male and female) provincial teams from the four Atlantic Provinces. Children under 18 are free to enter, while a day pass for adults is $15 or a weekend pass for $25.

Hillsborough Homecoming Days are underway, with a selfie scavenger hunt tonight.

Hubcity Theatre’s Shakespeare in the Park opens at Centennial Park, with a performance of Julius Caesar “with a galactic twist.” Showtime is 7pm. They’ll be on stage Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and again July 24, 25, & 26.

Salisbury Lions Club’s monthly pancake breakfast is today, 7-10am. Adults eat for $10, children ages six to ten eat for just $5, and pre-schoolers are free! A great spot to stop before heading to the Riverglade Nationals/Maritime Amateur Open Championship are taking place today & tomorrow; day & weekend passes available.

There’s a fun Hike & Seek adventure planned for Mill Creek Park in Riverview, starting at 9am. You’ll get a bingo-style scavenger hunt card that will encourage you to explore the park, solve riddles, and enjoy s’mores at the campfire at the end. There are some awesome prizes up for grabs, too!

Lady Smith Manor’s 5th Annual Summer Market kicks off today, 10am-5pm. It’s a Greatest Showman theme this year, with a costume contest, a Top Hat Scavenger Hunt, live music, classic circus games, face painting, cotton candy & treats, not to mention all sorts of amazing vendors & treasures.

There’s also another Mom Market happening at Centennial Park, 11am-3pm, and an Indoor Flea Market & Craft Market at the Riverview Lions Club.

The Richibucto Scallop Festival of Beaurivage‘s Family Day is today, with fun 10am-2pm & lots going on – including fireworks scheduled for 10pm!

Hillsborough Homecoming Days continues, with a silent auction at William Henry Steeves Museum, a parade at noon, and a free public swim 1-2pm.

The Buskers Festival continues today, with performances from 11am to 5pm.

Marvel artist Nick Bradshaw will be at Maker Hub for a kid’s drawing workshop at 1pm today. Be sure to sign up in advance for this awesome opportunity – ideal for ages six to 13, with a focus on designing a superhero’s backstory, personality, and more. (Adult supervision required for those under age 12.)

Can you swim, bike, & run? Maybe you want to sign up for the Plage Aboiteau Beach Triathlon! Fun Fact: Papa Pickle is the Race Director. There’s a beautiful medal and funky sticker for you at the end – not to mention the pride of completing the challenge. It’s a great route for beginners – with a Super Sprint option where you swim 350m, cycle 12km, and run 2.5km. Open to ages 14+.

Shediac’s Homarus Centre will release baby lobsters into the Northumberland Straight this afternoon; sure to be a great experience to witness!

Sabor y Son en la Calle is an outdoor celebration of Latin culture, with music, dancing, & more outside the Avenir Centre. The fun begins at 4pm & goes until 10pm!

The Buskers Festival wraps up today, with music again in the morning (11am-1pm) then busking performances until 10pm.

The Campbell Carriage Factory Museum is hosting a Crafternoon with special ice cream treats in honour of National Ice Cream Day!

Speaking of ice cream, don’t forget to enter the weekly draw at Bennic!

The Richibucto Scallop Festival of Beaurivage‘s family fun continues 10am-2pm today, including a touch-a-truck event!
