Moncton’s Grove Hamlet Park
Thanks to all you lovely readers who told us to check out Grove Hamlet Park – it’s fantastic!
This great little park has just about everything – splash pad, swings, basketball court (with soccer/hockey nets when we were there), shelter, and two play structures for various ages. It’s dog-friendly, with garbage cans and clean up bags at hand.
The space was updated by the City of Moncton in 2017, so things are still wonderfully new and fresh!
There’s a double slide, which can be great fun and wonderful for photos. The only thing missing is a washroom!
We parked on the road, which felt a little tight for traffic going by, but it seems to be expected by the neighbours; the playground is located near Ecole Champlain.
There’s a path system under construction that links the school to the playground; the trails led us on a lovely little adventure into an open field that was perfect for a game of tag! (Bring bug repellent if you’re planning to go exploring, though!)
The green space around the playground is lovely, too, with lots of places to set out a blanket and many benches to sit and enjoy.
Though somewhat close to the road, the design of the playground helped it feel more secluded, and there wasn’t much fear of children running off into traffic.
The basketball court, which looks like it converts to a rink in the winter, is completely secluded from the road. It had me dreaming of snowy nights with sparkly lights and maybe a little Christmas market!
Grove Hamlet was a huge hit, both with the kids and me. This lovely space is a sure bet for a year-round destination! You can find it at 39 Ripplewood Road. It’s just a quick turn down from Stirling’s Farm Market on Shediac Road; we saw at least one family that had stopped for apples and other snacks on their way to the playground!
Each week the Pickle Planet crew head to a new-to-us playground to share with you. Check out some of our other playground profiles and be sure to let us know your favourite park to enjoy with the family!
