
What to do with the kids this weekend in Greater Moncton (May 2-4)
May the 4th be with you! It’s a weekend FILLED with FUN to kick off May – which just happens to be one of the best months of year. 🙂 (It may be my birthday month, combined with a long weekend, plus Mother’s Day, AND everything starts to warm up for summer dreaming!)
We’re HUGE fans of the work being done at the Riverview Skate Park & Youth Centre – and their newest endeavor is nothing short of amazing! On Thursday, May 1st, they’ll hold the Grand Opening of The Sound Lab, a space youth can book Wednesday through Sunday to jam, learn, and create. Check them out for the grand tour and plan to come back May 7 for Turning Up the Future, a variety show and celebration for National Youth Week.

The Tri-City Tide are hosting the Halifax Hoppers tonight at Crandall University. Game time is 7pm, doors open at 6pm.
IHW Wrestling will shake things up at Riverview’s Coverdale Centre tonight.
There’s a family campfire social with Riverview Scouting, 6:30-8:30pm at the Mill Creek Lookout. They’ll have their Kub Kar track, displays with ropes, and marshmallows roasting on the fire!
Looking for a grown-up night out while helping a great organization? Head to BGC Dieppe for their Masquerade Fundraiser, 7-11pm.
Dancing Queens will be filling the Capitol Theatre when ABBA Cadabra takes the stage. There were a few seats left when we checked!
Heading to the MM Sale at the Coliseum? Pop by & say hello! I’ll have a Pickle Planet table in the vendor area! This is an incredible event to save on kids’ clothing & more; it’s like shopping marketplace without the haggling & ghosting & porch pick ups!

Saturday is Free Comic Book Day! Head to Comic Hunter on St. George for lots of great deals – and a free comic if you’re lucky. (They open at 8am that Saturday & say that most of the freebies are usually gone by noon.)
There’s a pancake breakfast at St. Paul’s United Church in Riverview, in support of the Unicorn Children’s Centre. There’ll be face painting, colouring, a bake sale, and more – and it’s just $5/plate! Open 7-11am.
Spend your morning checking out some decked out rides as the Hub City Overlanders and Acadia Toyota host another Wild Yotas event at the dealership.
MAGMA is hosting a Mother’s Day crafting & movie session, 10am-noon, at their centre on Church Street. You need to pre-register by emailing julie-pier.montreuil@magma-amgm.org
The Moncton Miniature & Doll Club is holding its annual show today at the Dan Bohan Family Centre in Riverview. Children under 10 are free to enter; admission for others is $3.
Alex Bazaar will be hosting a market at Riverview’s Coverdale Community Centre from noon until 5pm, while Curt’s General Market Events will be at the Riverview Lion’s Club from 9am-4pm.
And when you’re in Riverview, pop by The Ice Cream Barn for opening day at 1pm!
Chapters Moncton is holding two LEGO Make & Take events today; you should register now online for these free events, as spaces are limited. There will be sessions at 11am and 1pm.
There’s also a LEGO Make & Take at Toys R Us while supplies last today, starting at 1pm.
Maker Hub is holding a sewing class where participants can make their own bunny plush! The session costs $24 and lasts two hours; best for those ages 10+ with adult accompaniment.
The Town of Riverview is offering a free public swim at the Pat Crossman Aquatic Centre at 2pm, as part of Youth Week 2025.
We love what’s happening with the Harvey Hall in Albert County – and their free ice cream social planned for this afternoon! Stop in to enjoy Sawyer Stanley’s magic show, ice cream, and learn about the work being done by Chipoudy Communities Revitalization Committee, the Harvey Hall, and Horizon Health. Starts at 2pm.
The Moncton Mystics season opens tonight at 6pm with a game against the Lake City 56ers at Crandall University. Follow their page to stay up to date on the games! Admission is $7/adults, youth 12 & under are free, students/seniors $5. Doors open at 5:15pm, there’s a canteen (all items $2 or less) & merch for sale. A great night out!
It’s 80s night at the Roller Disco! The Sunshine Rollers will transform the Moncton Coliseum again, with family skating sessions at 4pm & 6pm, and a 16+ session at 8pm.
The Boardwalk’s driving range is set to open for the season today, as is East Coast Karting. Sure signs spring & summer are finally on their way!
The annual Run for Women is happening Sunday morning at Centennial Park. This is a fun-filled event with an incredibly important cause: raising money for Little Courageous, the trauma informed daycare operated by the Beausejour Family Crisis Resource. There’s a 1K run for littles at 8:30am, then the official welcome & warm-up, followed by the 5K & 10K start at 9:15am.
Looking for a little something different? How about a potato pancake breakfast at the Centre de Saint-André LeBlanc in Cap-Acadie? Enjoy a plate and beverage for $9, eat in or take out, 10am-12:30pm.
Moncton Cares is hosting a Manga Expo today, 10am-2pm, at their space on St. George Blvd.

Tantramar Regional High School is holding its annual Spring Market today, 10am-3pm. There’ll be vendors, carnival games, food, & lots of fun! Entry is $5, with funds going to support the Dragon Boat team’s goal of raising $40,000!
It’s also Make Something Sunday at Sackville’s Owens Art Gallery, their monthly invitation to come in and get creative. This month you can explore texture with samples and rubbings. Free, drop-in event from 2-4pm.
Board Miniatures is celebrating Star Wars Day, 10am-10pm, with lots of activities & specials.

The folks who love Lou MacNarin school are raising money for an accessible playground. They’re hosting a fundraising dance, Lou’s Little Big Ball, on May 31 from 2-5pm. This is a fun event for Grades K to 6.
Mean Girls the musical is coming to the Avenir Centre at the end of the month.
