What to do with the family for Easter Weekend 2023 in Greater Moncton
Happy Easter long weekend, everyone! We hope the Easter Bunny hops on by your home this weekend & that you enjoy a restful weekend with family & friends! Here’s a look at what’s happening this weekend, and a few ideas for fun at home, too!
Basketball fans likely already known that the Moncton Motion kick off their season Thursday night at the Avenir Centre with a game against the Bathurst Bears. (Their next home game is April 20.)
Trueman’s Blueberry Farm is holding its annual Egg Hunt on Friday, April 7. The Easter Bunny will be on site, there will be special treats & activities, wagon rides, live music, and more! Bring your own baskets, and dress to be outside – boots, etc. Under two years old are free, others need a ticket. (The farm shop is open throughout the weekend, 11am-8pm, for ice cream cakes & other yummy treats.)
SkyZone is open extended hours this weekend, from 2-10pm Friday, 10am-10pm Saturday, 10am-6pm Sunday, and Noon – 8pm Monday. Don’t forget – Friday & Saturday nights are GLOW nights &
The Magnetic Hill Zoo is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 10am – 4pm. There will be special Easter activities including a Scavenger Hunt!
Maple sugar camps are still open this weekend – likely your last chance this season to visit!
- Renton Brothers Family Sugarbush is open to the public Friday, Saturday & Sunday this weekend.
- Trites Maples (4th camp with the green metal roof, about a 15-minute walk from where you park at 1270 Gorge Road) will wrap up its season this weekend, but is open Saturday (including their pancake breakfast) & Sunday.
- Château Scoudouc is open Friday, Saturday, & Sunday this weekend.
- White’s Maple in Shenstone (outside Hillsborough) hosts a pancake breakfast Saturdays & Sundays from 8am – noon.
Broadleaf Ranch is holding an Easter Bonanza on Saturday and Sunday (10am-5pm), with ring rides, face painting, crafts, an outdoor egg hunt, and Robin’s Nest Petting Zoo – all free! You can also eat at the restaurant, open 10am-5pm both days.
The Biker Bunny is back for another season! The Bunny will be at Centennial Park on Saturday, April 8 at 11am for an egg hunt. Cash donations to Canadian Tire Jumpstart accepted on site.
Highfield Baptist Church is holding a free, park-wide scavenger hunt for Easter at Centennial Park on Saturday, April 8 (this was rescheduled from an original date of April 1). Open to all ages, 2-4pm; bring a pen/pencil!
Nicholas’ Hope Family Services is holding a free Easter Eggstravaganza at Centennial Park (near the splash pad) on Saturday, April 8 from 2-4pm.
The Greater Moncton Assembly Haven of Peace is holding an Easter egg hunt at Centennial Park (Rotary Pavilion) from 2-5pm on Saturday, April 8. You must book attendance in advance, tickets are $15/child.
The Salisbury Farmers & Artisans Market is re-opening this Saturday; the renovated building looks fantastic! More than 20 vendors expected on site this Saturday, 8am-1pm. Come check them out!
Public libraries are always great spots to visit any time, often with extra programming on the weekends. This Saturday, 10am – noon, students are invited to the Moncton library (multipurpose room on the first floor) to play chess. No registration required.
Travel to You Zoo is holding a Hop Into Easter special event on Saturday, April 8. Reserve your one-hour spot now; admission is $7/person (3 & under free). Visit with pigs, goats, ferrets, rabbits, chinchillas, sugar gliders, hedgehog, turtles, lizards, snakes, jumping spiders, and more!
The Town of Beaurivage (Richibucto) is holding an Easter egg hunt in Jardine Park on Saturday, April 8 from 1-3pm, with surprises for the first 150 kids.
Sackville’s Church by the Lake is holding an Eggstravaganza, an afternoon filled with egg hunts, face painting, balloon animals, crafts, and more on Saturday. Register for the free egg hunt at 1:30pm; rest to follow.
New Hope Community Church (Homestead Road) is holding an Egg-Mazing Race, Saturday from 2-4pm. This is an indoor event, with Party Pets on site, too!
Farmer Brown’s Greenhouse is holding Easter on the Farm Saturday, 10am – 2pm. Drop in to visit the animals, enjoy a hot chocolate, walk the trails – and for $15 you can make a succulent container. They’re also hosting a second pysanky (Ukrainian Easter Egg) workshop with the Ukrainian Club of Moncton on Saturday morning. This two-hour session includes all materials, light lunch, and beverage. Cost is $60/person, open to all ages.
Resurgo Place is always a fun visit, but it’s extra fun on Sunday when Snapology is on site in the Discovery Lab! Learn through playing with LEGO & K’Nex (included with admission). Psst! Resurgo Place also has a great gift shop if you need a great selection of local & educational fun finds!
The Moncton Wildcats are back home playing Baie-Comeau Drakkar on Monday night, 7pm at the Avenir Centre.
If you’re a shopper & up for a road trip, consider popping over to PEI this Easter weekend. Etsy PEI & NB are teaming up to host an Atlantic Spring Market with more than 100 amazing vendors with unique handcrafted items made right here in the Maritimes. The market is happening Saturday, April 8 10am-5pm at the Delta in Charlottetown.
Another weekend/day getaway idea is Halifax – where the Museum of Natural History is open Friday (9am-4pm), Saturday (9am-6pm), Sunday (9am-6pm), & Monday (9am-4pm). There will be some Easter activities AND the travelling Body Worlds Vital exhibit, which leaves the end of this month. Another great Halifax outing is the Discovery Centre, which features the travelling Dinosaurs in Motion exhibit until April 16. The Discovery Centre is only open Saturday & Sunday.
Looking for something a little closer to home? The Healing Farm in Rexton is booking hour-long farm visits that include time spent with rabbits, pigs, ducks, goats, chickens, and guinea pigs.
Did you miss the Moncton Multiples Consignment Sale last weekend – or love it so much you can’t wait till September for another fix?
