7 Things to Love about Riverview Winter Carnival 2023
It’s that fabulous time of year again – Riverview Winter Carnival! Pickle Planet is thrilled to partner with the Town to help promote this community event & highlight seven of our must-do family-friendly activities happening between February 3 – 12, 2023!
If you live in Riverview, we highly recommend entering the Snow Sculpture Contest — the prizes are awesome & even better, it’s a ton of fun to create!! You find all the details on registering your creation on the Town’s website (and tips on sintering the perfect snow pile on our post from a few winters ago). If you don’t live in town, be sure to make plans during your Winter Carnival visit to explore the neighbourhoods & watch for the snow sculptures to be shared online starting February 6.

🎇 EARLY EVENING FIREWORKS!
📅 Friday, Feb 3 Sunday, Feb 5⏰ 6:30-7:30pm📍Winter Wonderland Park 🔥 Ignite
Embrace winter’s early nightfall with 7pm fireworks!! This is ideal for families with little ones who can’t stay up late for summer or NYE celebrations. The display is part of IGNITE, the official kick off for the Carnival, WHICH MOVED TO SUNDAY, FEB 5 due to the extreme cold. Head to Winter Wonderland Park for skating & sledge skating on the oval (helmets recommended), free hot chocolate (bring your own mug, please!), maple candy on the snow ($1/stick) & lots of fun!

Mill Creek Nature Park will be full of winter fun all carnival long. If you need to pick one day to visit with the family, consider Sunday, February 5. You can join the 1st Moncton BPSA Traditional Scouting troupe for a campfire cookout at the lookout. Enjoy mini beaver tails, hot chocolate & more; feel free to bring your own picnic along, then stay to take part in the Amazing Race! Starting at 2pm, this event is free for all to join, so gather your team of family or friends, challenge some more folks to join, and get out to explore together.
Speaking of Mill Creek, don’t miss your chance to claim a GEOCACHE COIN showcasing the amazing artwork created last year at the Lookout! To earn one of these beauties, you’ll need to complete the annual Winter Geocaching Challenge, a fantastic way to get out & explore!

DYK the top winter skateboarding competition on Canada’s East Coast happens right here in our backyard? The annual Frozen Open hosted by Surface Skateshop is a must-attend event for local riders, with serious cash prizes & amazing vibes. Free to watch, this is a great chance to check out the amazing community work happening at this facility!

Riverview’s Winter Carnival is filled with both outdoor AND indoor ways to get active with the family! You can head to the pool for the free Polar Dip on Saturday, February 11; don’t forget your bathing caps & towels! Then on Sunday, lace up for the free Snowflake Skate and enjoy an afternoon with free hot chocolate and tunes, as well as a chance to test out sledges (like the ones used in the Paralympics) thanks to ParaNB. (Pssst! Looking for something a little quieter? Head to the free Warm Hearts Yoga session Sunday morning!)
🎈 FAMILY FUN DAY

The friendly folks at Farmer Brown‘s are hosting Family Fun Day this year. They have awesome sliding hills (bring your own sled, please), the heated greenhouses will be filled with activities (build-a-bear, cookie decorating, face painting, etc.), bonfires & s’mores, snowshoe trails, & so much more! (Please note: this event is free to attend, but there are costs associated with several of the activities & meals.)

You can kick off the fun with a pancake breakfast on Saturday, trade Tuesday supper for a bonfire roast on the Dobson Trail, enjoy a hot bowl of soup or chowder mid-week, and do chicken for lunch to wrap up the carnival! And on days where there isn’t a community meal, check out the local eateries offering Warm Winter Specials, including daily deals at The Homestead, 5 Bridges, and the Mayor’s Special at Spicy Grillz.
