10+ Fun Things to do With the Family in Moncton This Weekend (May 25-27)

 

Welcome to the last weekend in May – can you believe it?! We can basically start counting the days until vacation! While you’re contemplating your plans for summer, here are some ideas for this weekend!

Northrop Frye School is holding a Family Fun Night Friday, 5-7:30pm, with bouncy castles, BBQ, and more. Admission is $5/child to a maximum of $20/family; adults are free!

Shediac’s Neptune Drive In is showing Solo: A Star Wars Movie and Avengers Infinity War on Screen One, with Deadpool 2 and A Quite Place on Screen Two this weekend. Showtime is roughly 9:30pm.

Start your Saturday with a pancake breakfast at Harrisville United Church, a fundraiser for the Dieppe NCA dance group, fundraising for a trip to Maine.

Dieppe is holding its annual Children’s Festival, a chance for kids to test out various activities through workshops hosted by different groups (registration is required) over a few days this week. Then on Saturday, there’s a free event at Arthur J LeBlanc Centre from noon until 4pm with inflatables, kiosks, face painting, and magic with Remi Boudreau from 1:30-2:30pm!

The Pregnancy & Wellness Centre is holding a fundraising walk on Saturday, starting at the Moncton Wesleyan Church at 8am (walk begins at 9am). There will be face painting, food, puppets, and lots of family fun.

The annual Hike for Hospice takes place Saturday, starting at noon, at Centennial Park. This event features lots of fun, including inflatables, geocaching, face painting, and more.

Bass Pro is holding a Family Event this weekend, with activities on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday you can enjoy a BBQ and a catch and release pond from 11am-4pm, and on both days take in free crafts and a kids workshop (1:30-2pm).

Hot Wheels fans in the house? Toys R Us is holding a fun in-store event on Saturday morning where kids can design their own Hot Wheels car and race it on an exclusive track. On Sunday, you can test out some neat Nerf products in store, too.

Beaverbrook School will host the second Moncton Repair Café on Saturday (10am-2pm). Bring anything broken and see if the community can help you fix it!

Saturday is the 10th anniversary celebration for Moncton Multiples! This non-profit support group has grown to include more than 300 member families with twins and triplets in Southeastern New Brunswick and beyond. They’ll be gathering at Allison Heights Playground in the afternoon; family and friends are welcome! (Did you know May 28 is National Multiple Births Awareness Day in Canada? Find out more here!)

On Sunday morning the annual Walk to End MS takes place at the Chocolate River Station.

There’s also a Walk for Dog Guides, raising money to help connect Canadians with disabilities with guide dogs, hosted at Pet Valu in Moncton on Sunday morning.

The Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History takes place Sunday afternoon at Caseley Park.

Mike’s Bike Shop’s cycling team is holding the first provincial XCO race of the year this weekend. There are categories from adult to under 11! Register online or just enjoy watching the fun on Sunday!

Speaking of biking, did you know that on Wednesday nights kids can register for free BMX lessons at the Dieppe track? Check it out!

Sunday afternoon Belliveau Orchard is hosting a special apple blossom celebration! Enjoy live music, a cider launch, wagon tours, and of course amazing photo opportunities!

And of course summer Sunday afternoons are perfect for catching a home game with the Moncton Fisher Cats! Game time is 2pm at Kiwanis Park.

Heads up – East Coast Amusements is setting up outside Fairlanes Bowling Centre for May 30 – June 3!  The rides open at 3pm on weekdays, 11am on Saturday and noon on Sunday; closing time varies based on the crowds. Bracelets to ‘ride all day’ will be sold each day; you can also buy coupons. And speaking of Fairlanes, their kids’ free bowling program resumes June 1st! Register online and your child can have two free strings every day throughout the summer; shoe rentals may be extra.
