What to do with the kids this weekend in Greater Moncton (May 30 – June 1)

Friends, this is a VERY special weekend. Exactly 10 years ago this Sunday, June 1, I hit publish for the very first time on this website! 🥳🎂

It’s been a fabulous decade, filled with adventures and excitement, helping connect families with events and activities to build a deeper sense of belonging in our community. SAVE THE DATES! The YMCA’s Block Party program returns for another 13 fantastic FREE community gatherings this summer. The fun starts June 3 at Fairview Knoll Park & then hops all over the city. (PS: Splash pads & other City of Moncton water features will be operating as of June 21.)

Today’s the annual high school dragon boat challenge on Jones Lake! Corporate teams compete on Saturday, so it’s going to be a noisy, busy, wonderful weekend for raising money to help sick children & families in our community!

Trueman’s 4th annual Tulip Festival continues this weekend, with fields full of colourful flowers, a u-pick option, train rides, & more! Watch their social media for updates on which colours are peaking – and which names can score a free ice cream.

Mean Girls the musical is on stage this weekend at the Avenir Centre; shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

Petitcodiac’s St. Andrew’s Kids Dance is back for a summer bash. Students in K-Gr 2 can dance from 6-7pm, while those in Gr 3-5 are invited for 7:30-8:45. Cost is $2.

There’s a very cool MOZART performance happening today & tomorrow. Tutta Musica & the Greater Moncton Chorale are teaming up for a stage performance sure to impress! Tonight at the Église Saint-Thomas in Memramcook, 7pm & Sunday at 3pm at the Riverview Arts Centre.

Public Safety Day in Three Rivers means there will be ambulances, police cars, fire trucks, & more at the Petitcodiac Arena today, 10am-3pm.

River Glade MX Round 3 is this weekend, if you’re looking for some track action.

There’s also the Maritime Moto Show happening at Tantramar Regional High School, noon – 3pm, featuring cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more.

The folks who love Lou MacNarin school are raising money for an accessible playground. They’re hosting a fundraising dance, Lou’s Little Big Ball, from 2-5pm today. This is a fun event for Grades K to 6.

Irishview Orchard’s 2nd annual Blossom Festival is scheduled for today, 10am-3pm, with inflatables, ponies, craft vendors, Mama K’s Food Truck, and beautiful photo ops! This is a free event!

Moncton Cares is hosting a free community BBQ at Centennial Park, 1-5pm. You are asked to claim a free ticket via Eventbrite.

The Moncton Mystics basketball team hosts the Halifax Hornets, 4pm at Crandall University.

June is Seniors’ Month, with events marking Intergenerational Day on June 1 to kick things off. BGC Moncton & Moncton Cares are co-hosting a picnic & party at Renton Park from noon till 3pm, with a dance fitness class, chocolate bar bingo, & bouncy castle fun. There’s also City-led events at the Community Hub on Joyce from 2:30-4:30pm, with a performance by the Sistema NB Brass Quintet, a bilingual magic show, face painting, crafts, games, and more.

It’s an old-fashioned cash-and-carry organic plant sale happening at La Bikery in Moncton this morning, 10am-noon. There will be five local farms with seedlings and plants!

There’s a very cool MOZART performance happening this afternoon at the Riverview Arts Centre. It’s a presentation by Tutta Musica & the Greater Moncton Chorale.

The 2025 Gutsy Walk is taking place today at Rotary St-Anselme Park in Dieppe at noon, raising awareness and funds for Crohn’s and Colitis research.

Highland Park in Salisbury will be filled with activity to kick off the 2025 ParticipACTION challenge on Sunday. From 1-3pm there’ll be outdoor games to play, rock painting and bubbles, and lots of people enjoying the walking trails.

We have lots of look ahead ideas below – but a quick reminder that there’s a celebration parade for the Moncton Wildcats on Monday, starting at 6pm. They’ll go from Moncton City Hall to Downtown Place (outside the Avenir Centre), then the team will be on site for a meet & greet with bouncy castles, face painting, music & more until 9:30pm.

Fierté Dieppe Pride is taking place June 1-15, with most of the family-friendly events happening June 14 & 15, including a Drag Storytime at Chapters.

MAGMA’s Community Compass Spring event is happening June 5 at Edith Cavell School. This is your go-to resource for exploring the community, connecting with youth-serving organizations, and discovering available support services. There are more than 20 community partners on site to share information & answer questions, 5-7pm. Mark your calendars for an evening filled with activities, treats, and meaningful connections. Be sure to say hello when you see Pickle Planet there!

There’s a roller disco night coming to Petitcodiac on June 6. (You need to bring your own roller skates.)

EnviroFest at happening June 7 at Centennial Park, 11am-4pm. There’s also the Eco 360 Reuse Expo at the Coliseum June 7 & 8.

There’s a Summer Market in downtown Moncton on June 7, coordinated by Kept On Main with in-store extras and activities and vendors in Oak Lane. Expect an ice cream truck, games, lemonade stand, & more, 10am-3pm.

June 7 is the annual Corvette Show at Lounsbury Chevrolet Moncton, 10am-2pm.

The annual FunZOOla fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 9am-5pm. Lots of extra activities to make your visit to the Zoo memorable!

Chapters has a Father’s Day LEGO event happening June 8; you must register in advance to grab a spot! There are openings at 11am & 1pm. For ages 6+.

The Art Room is taking registrations for Saturday art classes this summer, 11am-noon, for ages five to 14.

The Greater Moncton Highland Games & Scottish Festival returns June 10-14, with ALL events FREE this year! The main event on Saturday, June 14 has bouncy castles, petting zoo, swordfighting, blacksmithing, horse & wagon rides, and live music alongside the pipebands, Highland dancers, and the Canadian national championships for female heavy athletes! This is a fantastic FREE event for the whole family; be sure to put it on your calendar now!
