Huge hello & thanks to all of you who stopped to say hello at the MM Sale on Saturday! It lifts my heart to hear how Pickle Planet helps you connect with the community and spend time with your family, exploring the events and attractions we share here. We heard from many of you that you come for these event posts but don’t explore the other sections, so here’s your reminder we have profiles of nearly 50 playgrounds to help you plan your adventures, as well as a weekly podcast highlighting local (and sometimes national) people doing interesting things.

Maplehurst Middle School presents the musical, Matilda Jr Friday & Saturday; showtime is 6:30pm at the school. You can purchase your $10 ticket in advance online.
Riverview High School Drama presents How to Survive Being in a Shakespeare Play this weekend, with performances Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm.
Shediac’s Neptune Drive In opens for the season this weekend, with Sonic 3 & The Accountant 2 showing.
The Sussex Drive In opens for the season tonight with a Marvel double header featuring Thunderbolts and Captain America: Brave New World.

There’s a Mother’s Day Market happening alongside a pancake breakfast at BGC Dieppe, 9am-1pm, $5/person (children three & under free).
Saturday is the annual Spring Fling at Frank L Bowser School in Riverview – a great family event to take in, perhaps after starting with a pancake breakfast? The Riverview Lions Club and the Parks & Recreation Junior Leadership participants will be serving up pancakes, eggs, sausages, and more from 8-11am. Cost is $30/family or $10/person.
Loopy Wool is hosting a beginner needle felting workshop creating mushrooms today – could be a great gift for Mom!
The DIY Kids workshop at Home Depot is showing full for this Saturday, but check their page for the next event to posted soon.
We did see some spots still available for the Brix Mother’s Day cooking class for kids, ages eight to 12.
If you’re still looking for a gift for mom, maybe you’ll find it at the Athena’s Touch Mother’s Day Market at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Moncton, open 10am-3pm.
There’s also the Cap-Acadie Community Market happening, 10am-2pm.
The Record Expo returns to Riverview’s Coverdale Recreation Centre today, 10am-4pm, with thousands of vinyl treasures to explore!
There’s a ceramics workshop for kids at the Dieppe Arts & Culture Centre on Saturday.
Grab breakfast at the Hillsborough Kiwanis Hall, with French toast, pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, beans, and more on the buffet menu – all for just $15!
You can learn to play or practice your skills during the 3rd annual Disc Golf Event at Fundy National Park today & tomorrow!
The Codiac Regional RCMP are hosting a free community BBQ at Oak Lane (off Main Street, Moncton) starting at 11am and going until the hot dogs run out! Postponed due to forecasted rain; join them May 14 instead!
Boyle Family Farm is open today & tomorrow, with all kinds of activities 10am-4pm. Good news: Mom gets in free with a full-price child admission!
Magnetic Hill Wharf opens for the season today! The restaurant is still a few weeks from opening, but the gift shop will be open along with the treatery and Murray’s Moose Ice Cream (today 11am-7pm & Sunday 11am-4pm).

Moncton High School is hosting a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at Centennial Park, 1-5pm, with games, performances, inflatables, and more!
Riverview High School Drama presents How to Survive Being in a Shakespeare Play this weekend, with performances today at 2pm and 7pm.
It’s home opener weekend for the Moncton Mustangs football team, taking on the Valley Razors at Rocky Stone Field (next to Centennial Park, Moncton) at 5pm. Entry is $10 & bring some extra to grab dinner from Mama K’s Food Truck!
There were still a few spots for Puppy Yoga when we checked! It happens from 6-7pm, must be 18+ or 14+ with an adult.
In case you didn’t hear, the Moncton Wildcats are in the final showdown for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League – the first time since 2010. The series begins tonight at the Avenir Centre with a game at 5pm, with Game 2 Sunday at 7pm.

Ammon Pony Trails is offering stable visits for Mother’s Day, with a craft & cookies, too. You must pre-book your spot, so reach out to them asap. The session lasts about 45 minutes and costs $25 for Mom and a child, with additional people allowed for $5/each.
The Maker Hub is hosting a felt flower bouquet workshop, perfect for gifting or creating with Mom! Cost is $15; ideal for ages eight & over, and those under 12 must have an adult present. It’s a one-hour session at 1pm.
Sign up for a creative afternoon workshop, thanks to Angel’s Creative World. Designed for Mom and one child, ages four to 12, this workshop will have you create matching bracelets and earrings for $25 from 4-6:30pm. Limited spaces, so sign up now!

We are HUGE fans of the circular economy here – hand-me-downs, thrifting, and swaps are all top notch in our books. And speaking of books, it’s the season for Little Free Libraries to start popping up again!

🏊♀️ The indoor splash pad at the YMCA North End is an amazing option for kiddos – with public openings every day of the week! Check the schedule as times vary day-to-day; cost to attend for non-member is $6.
🏊♀️ For indoor swimming, there are public options at the YMCA Greater Moncton (love their small, warmer pool for little ones), the Pat Crossman Aquatic Centre in Riverview, and the Dieppe Aquatic Centre (with the awesome sloped entry & pirate ship splash zone!).
Hop! Skip! Jump! is perfect for little ones, as well as the cool climbing wall & laser room for older kids.
⚡Burn off energy at SkyZone Moncton; half-price entry on Tuesday nights, and Glow Zone on Fridays & Saturdays.
Resurgo Place is a spot we love to visit again & again; history, hands-on science & arts, & special programming, too! (Closed on Mondays, including long weekends.)
Local libraries are always a great spot to visit, with lots of programming for all ages – and also another rainy day must visit option.
BGC Dieppe is always a great place for families to connect, with lots of programming open to everyone.
