What to do with the kids in Moncton June 2022

Can you feel it? Summer is coming – and it’s going to be a great one, we just know it!

There are splash pads & playgrounds to visit, ice cream cones to eat, and so many fun festivals & events. We’ll keep adding to this post as we find more, so feel free to reach out in the comments or by email & let us know if you have something happening.

Dragon boat races are back at Jones Lake! The Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival is a fundraiser for the Moncton Lions Sick Children’s Fund, a cause near & dear to our hearts here at Pickle Planet. Cheer on the school teams Friday, June 3 & the corporate racers on Saturday!

East Coast Amusements is back at the Coliseum parking lot (Killam Drive, Moncton) until June 5; hours & rates on their Facebook page, appears a bracelet is $40 (good each night until 9pm), 25 ride tickets for $30.

Shediac’s Neptune Drive In is open again for the summer; June 3-5 it’s showing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 & Top Gun Maverick. Gates open at 7:30pm, movies start around 9:40pm.

Memramcook’s annual Community Day is set for Saturday, June 4. Watch for activities for all ages and all tastes, including a multigenerational walk, bike rodeo, & more.

Salisbury is kicking off the Community Better Challenge with an event Saturday, June 4 at Highland Park, 5-9pm. There’s a washer toss tournament (register in advance), games for the kids, Beavertails, hot dogs, a bonfire, and music! Each lap around the 1km wetlands loop gets your name in the draw for prizes, too!

The Shepody Trail’s Grand Reopening is taking place June 4 with a host of activities throughout Riverside-Albert – including music from Isaac + Blewett at Sawmill Creek Bridge at 1:30pm. Royal watcher in the family? Then you likely already know about the special Victorian style tea celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, happening at Thomas Williams House on June 4. Find all the prices & details on their event page.

Dieppe’s Doiron House is open again for the season, and entry is free.

The Freaky Fryer Food Truck has switched to ice cream specialties for the summer; find them the first weekend in June at Bore Park, open noon till 8pm. Follow their Facebook updates for times/locations!

The Riverview Fire Station is hosting a free car seat clinic on Sunday, June 5, from 9am – 1pm. You can book an appointment online: https://form.jotform.com/221049468627260 or text/call Natalie at 506-872-1213.

It’s apple blossom time at Belliveau Orchard – and they’re celebrating on Sunday, June 5! There will be Bar Le Tchai & Fusion Express open noon till 5pm, tractor rides around the orchard, live music from 1-3pm & a storytime for kids at 3pm. (No charge for the on-site activities!

It’s always a good day to visit the Zoo, but it will be extra fun on June 11 (rain date June 18; check their Facebook page for updates)! The Friends of the Zoo are organizing FunZOOla, a day filled with bouncy castles, a zoo-wide scavenger hunt (with prizes up for grabs!), pony rides, extra eats, & more. The PJ Walk for Kids, in support of Ronald McDonald House Atlantic, returns to Centennial Park on June 12 at 9am! Our family enjoyed this walk so much in previous years; it’s a great family event with bouncy castles, face painting, pancakes, teddy bear clinic, and more. The cause is close to our hearts, as well, as we ate many, many meals in the Moncton Ronald McDonald Room while our boys where in the NICU.

Moncton’s Riverfront Evening Market is taking place on Thursdays at 7pm, with Ivan Daigle scheduled to perform on June 16.

The Greater Moncton Highland Games & Scottish Festival is BACK in person – and better than ever! This year the Games are hosting the international heavy events championships for athletes ages 40+; there are events Friday through Sunday (June 17-19), with dozens of activities for everyone to enjoy. Of particular interest to the kiddos: bouncy castles, face painting, music, sword fighting, archery, all kinds of goodies, & lots of music! New this year: a craft beer & spirits market in the centre of the action, along with nearly a dozen food trucks & vendors to visit.

The Great Benjamin Circus return to Moncton on June 25 for two shows at the Moncton Coliseum.

The Run for Women is back in person! Join the fun & support an amazing cause at Centennial Park on June 26. Walk, run, or stroll the 10K, 5K, or 1K Little Steps.
