S7E8: Letters from the front; Remembering WWI veteran Hugh Wright with his grand-niece Dawne McLean

Letters, photos, and memorabilia help keep memories of the past alive – as do the collectors and keepers among us. One of those community historians is Albert County’s Dawne McLean, who graciously joined us to share stories for Remembrance Day. Dawn’s great-uncle, Hugh Wright, has one of many local men who joined the 26th Battalion in 1915, shipping overseas to serve in the First World War. Hugh was 19 when he left, returning to New Brunswick on his 24th birthday. During that time, he sent home more than 50 letters, including one written on November 11, 1918, just hours after the armistice ending the war. Tune in to hear Dawne read this letter and others, as we mark Remembrance Day 2024.
