Being Proud To Be In This Place

We need the diverse values and interests that shape the Greater Moncton Area to be reflected back at us in everything from kids’ books to TEDxMoncton talks to trailers before movies. Honestly, consider the question: why do you live here? If the only answer you have is because it’s where you were born, that’s frankly not enough. We all deserve to be passionate about the place we call home.

Let Them Vote

Lowering the voting age to 16 is the way we show our youth that we care about them, that we value them, and that we respect the role they play in our community. That sense of empowerment could change the way a generation sees this province – and not just within our borders. Storm days and New Brunswick schools

We can all point to days when classes were cancelled in anticipation of a storm that didn’t materialize. My friend Parker Donham writes a lot about snow days. The rush to cancel school when there’s a chance of poor conditions, rather than an actual storm outside the windows, makes things that much more complicated when we need our storm days.

Literacy stories we tell ourselves

We need to tell ourselves we are a province of authors, songwriters, and storytellers. We need to show our children the value and respect we have for these people and skills. We need to stop being afraid of being last on the list of average in an above-average country.

We Need To Keep Marching

Whether or not he intended it, Donald Trump is a megaphone for hate. Those of us who stand against hate need to keep making sure we’re heard. Millions of people marching in hundreds of cities around the world is a start.
