Crayola Magic Scene Creator Review
This post is sponsored by Crayola. Our family was gifted some fabulous new creativity sets to enjoy in exchange for telling you about one in particular. All opinions are our own.
“It’s cool how the little pictures can move when you turn it on.”
That’s the six-year-old’s modest review of the Crayola Magic Scene Creator, a neat toy that mixes animation with your own static drawings. She spent almost an hour straight playing with it when we opened the box, and the joy on her face was obvious!
The unit comes with little plastic cards that use lenticular printing to create the illusion of movement, which is brought to life by Crayola’s Scene Creator, rather than you moving the cards back and forth. There’s room on the screen for you to draw alongside the cards, which does allow for some very creative thinking and creating. It’s very kid-friendly; our daughter was quick to understand how it worked and was able to show her brothers, almost five years old, how to use it. They were all as excited to play with it the second day as they were the first, which is a massive seal of approval in this house!
The Details You Really Want to Know
The recommended age is three and older; our almost-five-year-olds enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as the six year old.
Some of the cards work better than others – we all really loved the dog wagging his tail and the mermaid tail that splashes back and forth. It was pretty cool to see things start to move and try to figure out new and silly ways to create little scenes.
The machine does make a bit of an odd whirring noise when it’s turned on; it’s not overwhelming, but it did surprise us at first.
As always, Crayola has put some thought into storage for all these little pieces; the 70 action cards and six special markers tuck neatly into the back of the case. Always a plus in our books.
At a price point around $20, this is a solid investment – a great option for relatives asking for gift ideas or when you need a birthday party hit!
