Readers – get ready! The one & only Bookstravaganza returns to the Moncton Coliseum this weekend! An agrena filled with pre-loved books, with sales going to support literacy programs. Start your treasure hunting tonight, 5pm. The sale continues Saturday & Sunday.
And speaking of books, Dieppe’s 35th Book Fair is taking place until October 26, with all kinds of amazing events – en Francais. Lots of workshops, readings, & more for all ages.

Friday’s Halloween Events
- There’s a spooky storytime in French at the Moncton library at 10:30am, an afternoon mask workshop for ages 13+, and an all-ages ghost craft challenge, too!
- Halloween in the Park is back in Dieppe! Today from 5-9pm, enjoy the family trail (with a haunted option from 7-9pm), live music, campfires, food trucks, and Le BarBu at Rotary Park. (Activities Saturday, too.)
- Neptune Drive In is hosting a Trunk or Treat. Gates open at 5pm; movies start at 6:45pm with Corpse Bride showing before Regretting You.
- The Town of Salisbury’s Pumpkin Walk has become a local favourite – with fantastic pumpkins lining the pathways through Highland Park. Dress up, enjoy the displays, and even leave with some treats! (Please check the Town’s postings regarding parking in the area for events; event 6-7:30pm.)
- New Hope Church (on the Homestead Road between Moncton and Salisbury) is hosting its Harvest Candy Carnival from 6-7:30pm, with treats, candy, games, and door prizes!
- St. Andrew’s Church in Petitcodiac is hosting their annual kids’ Halloween dance tonight! Students in K-2 are welcome from 6-7pm, with Grades 3-5 welcome from 7:30-8:45.
- Art Richard brings his awesome Halloween musical performance to the Centre communautaire de Saint-Antoine, 6pm. Costumes encouraged, candy provided, cost is $5/child (parents/guardians enter free).
- Boyle Family Farm’s Forbidden Forest Haunted Horror Trail, 6-10pm (not intended for young children).
- Albert County Museum’s haunted jail – said to be home to the spirit of convicted murderer Tom Collins – will open for special spooky tours today & tomorrow, $5/person (cash only). You can also buy snacks and hot chocolate after your tour – and visit with the Albertosaurus display before it leaves. Doors open at 6pm.
- Sunny Brae Baptist Church is holding a Trunk or Treat tonight, 6:30pm start time.
- Irishtown’s Haunted House goes scary tonight – Enter if you dare! You can pre-order your tickets online; open 6:30-9:30pm.
- The Green Pig Market’s Haunted Corn trail is open this weekend; tickets are $20/person, cash only, sold on site from 6:30-9pm.
- Halloween on Pellerin is fundraising for Birchmount School’s music program, offering scary tours of their set up tonight from 7-9pm.
- Irishtown’s Haunted Trail (outside, rain or shine, no pre-order required) is open for a scarier experience (recommended for teens & adults) from 7:30-9:30pm. $8/person.
Foreigner is at the Avenir Centre tonight, with a special performance by the Harrison Trimble High School Vocal Ensemble.
Bookstravaganza continues at the Moncton Coliseum today, 10am-4pm — and Dieppe’s 35th Book Fair continues as well!
Young readers can head to the Moncton Library for a reading by local authors Wilma Mata & Andre Gallant with their book The Tree Who Ran Away, 11am in English.

- Riverview’s R n R group will hold a Costume Contest during their festive walk through Mill Creek Nature Park, leaving from the Robertson Street Parking Lot at 9am.
- The Riverview Ringette Association is hosting a Trunk or Treat Fundraiser at the Byron Dobson Rink parking lot. There’s a $10 (cash only) fee to attend; then you can trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk, gathering treats & supporting the teams!
- MAGMA’s Harvest Fest happens from 10am-noon, with pumpkin carving, caramel apples, crafts, cider, and more!
- Boo at the Zoo is on again today! Magnetic Hill Zoo is filled with Halloween displays, alongside all the usual animal attractions. Open 10am-5pm; we suggest purchasing tickets in advance online to avoid waits & disappointment.
- AccessibiliTREAT 2025 is happening 10am-noon today at the Oulton College parking lot in downtown Moncton. This is a fantastic option for those looking for an accessible, sensory-friendly experience!
- Beloved Miniature Horses is hosting a Halloween with the Minis event at the farm, 10:30am. Limited spaces, so book in advance!
- Chapters Moncton will have an in-store spooky scavenger hunt, themed around the I SPY books. Reserve your child’s free spot in advance; they can win a poster! 11am start time.
- BGC Dieppe is hosting a Halloween party, 11am-2pm.
- The Maplegrove Inn is holding a Halloween Tea, 11am-3pm – fancy sweets are always a great treat! Reservations are required, call 506-882-1854.
- Boyle Family Farm’s kid-friendly Haunted Halloween Trail, 11am-4pm, with petting zoo, face painting, & more.
- Riverview High School’s dragon boat team is again hosting Halloween Hallways, a spooky fundraiser at the school. Dress up & enjoy spooky treats, face painting, Mad Science demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, & more! Open noon until 3pm, cost is $5/person or $20/family (cash only).
- Carma (Cat Rescue Maritimes Moncton Chapter) is holding a pet Halloween photo shoot fundraiser, noon – 4pm.
- Halloween in the Park begins at 1pm today at Rotary Park in Dieppe, with the family trail open, storytime in French, English storytime at 2:15pm, face painting available 1-5pm (payment required), Trunk or Treat from 3-5pm, and from 7-9pm the haunted trail is open, with live music and campfires to enjoy.
- Irishtown’s Haunted House (inside) has a trick-or-treat version again today, 1-3pm & their Haunted Trail (outside, rain or shine, no pre-order required) is open for a non-scary version from 1-3pm. (The trail takes about half-an-hour or more to walk; cost is $8/person.)
- Mountain View United Church is hosting a Kids’ Halloween Party, 1-4pm today.
- Highfield Baptist Church in Moncton’s 4th Trunk or Treat is happening, 2-4pm, with a bouncy castle & activities in the gym, too!
- 506 Elite Allstars is hosting a Not-So-Scary Halloween camp for ages two to six, with lots of Halloween themed activities and crafts for littles to enjoy.
- Grand-Bouctouche is hosting a spooky candy hunt at the Bouctouche Dunes, with games, treats, & more! Free, 2-4:30pm. Wear your costumes & bring a treat bag!
- First Baptist Moncton is holding a Trunk or Treat from 3-5pm.
- Riverview’s Upper Byron Dobson Arena will host an all-ages Halloween Skate, 3:45-5:15pm. Wear your costume, skate to Halloween music, and little ones can enjoy a treat bag, too!

- Art Time Café in Moncton is hosting a Halloween Tote Bag painting workshop, 5-7pm; limited spaces, so book in advance.
- ATU 1290 is hosting a Touch a Truck / Trunk or Treat event at Codiac Transpo (140 Millennium Blvd), 5:30-7:30pm.
- Dieppe’s Maison Doiron will offer haunting tours this season, intended for those 16 years and over. The 30-40 minute adventure is presented to small groups, sometimes in French, sometimes in English. Please reserve your spot in advance; admission by donation. Tonight, both the 6pm & 7pm tours are in French.
- Irishtown’s Haunted House scary version is open tonight, 6-9:30pm.

- The Riverview Lions Club is hosting a Kids Chocolate Bar Halloween Bingo, 6:30pm. Bring one full-size chocolate bar per card; adults can attend, but the Bingo is for the kids! There’ll be some snacks and prizes for Best Costume.
These attractions & fun ideas are always worth checking out! Look for the for our TEEN & TWEEN picks! Some of these are still great with littles, too, but we know it can be tricky to come up with ideas the older kids will enjoy – or can be sent to on their own.

There’s a borrowing program at YMCA North with skateboards, helmets, and protective gear for use on their great outdoor ramps when weather permits.
There’s a roughly one hour iTour of downtown Moncton’s historical & cultural locations you can use to help you explore – a great way to add a little movement, a little history, and a little fun to your family outings! Be sure to check out all the amazing public art installations around the downtown core, too!
INDOOR FUN
The indoor splash pad at the YMCA North End is an amazing option for kiddos – with public openings every day of the week! Check the schedule as times vary day-to-day; cost to attend for non-member is $6.
For indoor swimming, there are public options at the YMCA Greater Moncton (love their small, warmer pool for little ones), the Pat Crossman Aquatic Centrein Riverview, and the Dieppe Aquatic Centre (with the awesome sloped entry & pirate ship splash zone!).
Hop! Skip! Jump! is perfect for little ones, as well as the cool climbing wall & laser room for older kids.
Burn off energy at SkyZone Moncton; half-price entry on Tuesday nights, and Glow Zone on Fridays & Saturdays.
Resurgo Place is a spot we love to visit again & again; history, hands-on science & arts, & special programming, too! (Closed on Mondays, including long weekends.)
MR21 is ‘low key Moncton’s best kept secret’ as my kids say. An incredible visual presentation that tells the history of the Acadian community in a beautiful cathedral in downtown.
Local libraries are always a great spot to visit, with lots of programming for all ages – and also another rainy day must visit option.

The Bunker on Main Street in Moncton is a great indoor golf option & does have times kids are allowed. They also now have a race car simulator! There are more than 50 cars you can choose from & more than 30 tracks to try – it’s not a little kid game.
Riverview Indoor Skatepark & Riverview Youth Centre are a great space to learn to skate or practice your skills!
Bowling is always a fun idea! Go retro vibes with Marvelous Holy Bowly in Riverview, check out glow bowling times at Fairlanes in Moncton, or head to Bowlarama & its awesome arcade in Dieppe. (We recommend calling ahead to book in advance so you’re not disappointed.)

- The Moncton Market & the Dieppe Market are both open on Saturday mornings, with fantastic options for local goodies.
- Many smaller communities also have markets & great hidden eating gems, like Salisbury’s Farmer’s Market and the Green Pig Country Market, as well as the Old Church Farmer’s Marketin Hillsborough.
- A cool spot to shop & enjoy a riverside stroll is the Starving Artist Cafe in Moncton.

Boyle Family Farm is holding a Pumpkin Smash Festival November 1 & 2 (general farm admission rates apply). Bring your pumpkin — free of candles, paint, ribbons or any other non-organic materials — to the farm and enjoy pumpkin bowling, pumpkin chucking, pumpkin putt-putt and more! (Composted pumpkins are used to help feed animals on the farm and to enrich the soil for next year’s crop.)
Sunday, November 2 at the Capitol Theatre, enjoy a screening of the 1922 silent movie, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, with a brand-new original score composed by New Brunswick’s Andrew Reed Miller and performed live by members of Symphony New Brunswick.
Everyone is invited to take part in the Day of the Dead celebration at Gaxiola Mexican Restaurant in Salisbury on November 2, 2-4pm. You can send a photo of your loved one in advance, or drop off you pictures in person.
A reminder that Home Depot holds kids’ workshops but you need to snag a spot quickly! The next registration opens Nov 10.
