WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND
Moncton is hosting the 2023 Canadian Wheelchair Rugby National Championships this weekend at the Moncton Coliseum.
McKenzie College in Moncton is hosting an Open House on Friday, 10am-3pm. A great chance to learn about their programs for older students.
The Moncton Public Library has lots of great activities for all ages. On Friday, children 7 – 12 can sign up for a paper lantern making workshop, while on Saturday there’s a bingo game. Contact the library to register!
Saturday is Free Comic Book Day, though any day is a great one to visit our local comic shops! The Comic Hunter in Moncton will have sales on Saturday & Sunday, free comic books (six per person, while supplies last – with some great kid-friendly options), a costume contest (show up between 9am & 2pm Saturday to get your photo taken as entry), & more! Find them at 321 St. George Street; they’ll have a special tent set up outside, too!
If you’re really into comics, you likely already know that MiraCon, a comic/sci-fi/cosplay/pop culture convention is happening Saturday in Miramichi & that Moncton’s East Coast Comic Expo is set for June 9 & 10.
We see Beloved Miniature Horses have a few openings for farm visits showing available this weekend; a great idea for a family outing!
Travel to You Zoo will be on site at Trish & Henk’s Quality Produce in Salisbury on Saturday. Stop by 1-3pm – and before that, visit the newly renovated Salisbury Farmer’s Market!
Lutz Mountain Heritage Museum is hosting a four-week intro to sewing class with Tina Sharapova, starting this Saturday. Open to those ages 12 & older. Email sharapova.alevtina@yahoo.com to register; cost for the four classes is $164.
Resurgo Place’s new temporary exhibit, Refuge Canada, opens Saturday.
PLAEX is hosting a clean-up day at Riverfront Park, Moncton on Saturday. They promise a bouncy castle, face painting, games, prizes, and more, starting at noon.
The Hillsborough Public Library is holding a special Mother’s Day Tea Party on Saturday. Register in advance to attend.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, there are lots of shopping opportunities this weekend to help you get ready. La Thrift Shack in Memramcook is holding an open house Saturday & Sunday, the Maplehurst Middle Home & School Association is hosting a Mother’s Day Market at the school, Curt’s Market has 60+ vendors at the Riverview Lions Club Saturday, and there’s the latest Mom Market Moncton pop up happening at the Magnetic Hill Community Centre on Sunday, 10am – 2pm.
If Mom is into art, consider a visit to Apple Art Gallery on St. George or the Sackville Art Fair at the Tantramar Veteran’s Memorial Civic Centre this weekend! And if you’re up for a drive, Hampton’s Belding Hill Farms is hosting a 20-vendor Mother’s Day market this weekend.
There’s also an early Mother’s Day Tea this Sunday at Blossom Grove Farm (Colpitts Settlement), with snacks, sweets, yard games, petting farm, and photos. $15/adult, $10/kids, 12 & under free. (Pssst! They offer Goat Yoga sessions, too – there might still be space available for Saturday’s class.)
