What to do with the kids Halloween weekend in Moncton (October 28 – 30)

Welcome to the last weekend in October 2022! Hard to believe it, but Monday is Halloween and that means this weekend is PACKED with fun ideas to get out & enjoy! We’ve done our best to collect all the local info here in one spot for you; drop a comment if you know something we missed! Not up for Halloween activities? With so many events this weekend, we’re trying something a little different to help you out! Want to easily find the scarier options that might appeal to the tweens/teens? Look for the ☠️. Toddler-friendly options have a 🎃. Events are listed roughly in chronological order, but many things happen over several days, so take time to read through!

HALLOWEEN EVENTS

🎃 It’s the final weekend for the Green Pig’s corn maze, play area, & pumpkin blaster. Open daily 9am – 5pm.

🎃 Trueman’s Blueberry Farm in Aulac is also open this weekend, with treats, pumpkins, & more!

☠️ 🎃 The Irishtown Community Centre has several Halloween events for the family to enjoy, with a pumpkin carving contest and a haunted house & trail. The haunted house will be open Thursday through Sunday, with the trail open Friday and Saturday. $5 for one, $7.50 to visit both (on the same day); hours vary, check the source. The house & trail are for all ages; you’ll be asked upon arrival what level of scariness you’re up for!

☠️ The students at Tantramar Regional High School in Sackville are hosting a Spook Walk on Thursday night, 6:30-8:30pm.

🎃 The folks from Arrow Amor Art will be on hand for a pumpkin painting event with the Village of Salisbury on Thursday night. Just $10/person, all ages welcome. Register in advance via email: arrowamorarte@gmail.com

☠️ Thursday also sees the return of the Ghost Walk organized as a fundraiser by the grad class at Salisbury Regional School (formerly JMA Armstrong High School). $3 for adults, $2 for students, and $1 to do it all over again! It runs 6-8pm, one night only.

🎃 Want a little less scare? Salisbury’s Pumpkin Walk in Highland Park on Friday night (6-7pm) is a perfect family outing! Dozens of jack-o-lanterns will be scattered throughout the park, with some treats & more on hand. Costumes encouraged!

🎃 The New Hope Community Church on Homestead Road is hosting a Spooktacular Candy Carnival Friday night, 6-7:30pm, with carnival games and treats, a photo op, and a cafe with pumpkin pie!

☠️ Farmer Brown’s Forbidden Woods is happening Friday & Saturday from 6pm – 10pm (last entry at 9:30pm); cost is $10/person, payable at the door. Wood oven pizzas and beverages will be available for purchase, too; a great option for those up for a little more scare factor!

☠️ Riverview’s Skate Park & Youth Centre always go all out for Halloween & the annual Rampocalypse competition. Check out the action Friday, 6-9pm; $7 to compete, free to watch.

☠️ The students & staff at l’École Antonine-Maillet invite the public to enjoy spooky trails, hot chocolate, and stories around the fire Friday night, 6-8pm. Donations accepted for admission.

🎃 Northrop Frye Home & School is hosting a Halloween Party on Friday night. $5/child, parents are free. One gym will be dance central, while the other will have a gross-out station, pumpkin patch game, photo booth, and more. The cafeteria will have a canteen with goodies for sale, treat bags, and the costume contest! It’s cash only, 6-8pm.

☠️🎃 Hillsborough is holding several free Halloween public skating sessions: Friday night, 8-9pm, and Saturday 2-3pm & 8-9pm.

☠️🎃 Boo at the Zoo continues this weekend, with scare levels appropriate for the whole family. Enjoy visiting the animals & showing off your costume! Happening Saturday & Sunday, 10am – 4pm. Tickets are available for advance purchase online – and remember to dress for the weather!

🎃 The Great Big Boo is also on again this weekend at Cineplex Dieppe. It’s an interactive, indoor Halloween event perfect for littles – a one-hour musical presentation on the big screen at 11am.

🎃 ☠️ On Saturday you can start the fun with a pancake breakfast (must pre-order) at Irishtown Community Centre, with games & pony rides available, too. Stay for the movie afternoon for the whole family (Muppets Haunted Mansion followed by Hocus Pocus 2) and a tour of the haunted house & trail (scary option available).

🎃 Art Richard’s amazing Halloween musical show is back at the LJR auditorium in Shediac on Saturday morning, 10:30am. A fantastic way to get those little ghouls & goblins moving in the morning! Admission is free; donations accepted for the Vestiaires St-Joseph food bank. (Stick around Shediac for the kid-friendly haunted house later in the day; details below!)

🎃 Monster Trot is back again at the Coliseum on Saturday! This is the 10th year for one of the best Halloween events in Greater Moncton & one of our favourite fundraising events & causes – Atlantic Wellness. For just $10 per trick-or-treater (meaning adults don’t pay if they aren’t gathering treats), you can make your way through several awesomely decorated stations, collecting yummy goodies as you go. Get your tickets in advance; there are three start times available at 11:30am, 12:30pm, & 1:30pm. Don’t forget to support the BBQ & prize draws, too, as funds go to provide free mental health counselling to youth in our community.

🎃☠️ Riverview’s Lions Club is hosting a Chocolate Bar Bingo Saturday from 2-4pm. Bring one regular size chocolate bar for entry (parents & children) and your first bingo card; ‘buy’ additional card with additional bars. Enjoy free hot dogs & prizes for best costumes!

🎃 The Mom Market Collective will be at Boyle’s Family Farm this Saturday, with several local vendors set up from 11am – 3pm. Free parking & entry, Halloween costumes encouraged, and there will even be treat bags for the first 20 littles who appear!

🎃☠️ While you’re out and about Saturday or Sunday in costume, stop into Bennic in Dieppe for a special $2 scream cone!

🎃☠️ The Moncton Public Library is holding an all-ages Halloween bingo game on Saturday at 2:30-3:30pm.

🎃 Port Elgin & District Lions Club is teaming up with the Good Time Gang to hold a Monster March on Saturday, 1-4pm. Prizes for most creative & spookiest costumes, games, activities, & treats. Hot dogs on sale, admission by donation.

🎃☠️ Looking for a fun treat? Pop into the Scarefree Cakery on Collishaw & indulge your sweettooth with spooky cupcakes and cookies. Stop in Saturday or Monday to grab a photo at their in-store display!

🎃 Amp it Up Dance in Salisbury is hosting a K-8 Halloween party on Saturday. They’ll have two floors of activities & fun at the Lions Club, from 6-8pm. Cost is $10; this includes all activities & lots of treats!

🎃 Euston Park is opening to celebrate Halloween on Saturday! Stop by 5-8pm to enjoy fall decor and treats!

🎃 Moncton’s Highfield Baptist Church is holding a Trunk or Treat on Saturday afternoon, 1:30 – 4pm, promising decorations without the scariness to keep the event fun for all ages.

🎃 Sunny Brae Baptist Church’s Trunk or Treat takes place in the parking lot on Saturday at 6pm.

🎃 First North River Baptist Church in Wheaton Settlement is hosting a fall fair on Saturday, with hay rides, BBQ, trunk or treat and more, noon till 5pm.

🎃 Dawson Baptist Church is holding a community trunk or treat, corn maze walk, and BBQ at Milton Mile Farm on Saturday from 4-6pm.

☠️ The Petitcodiac Legion is hosting a Halloween dance for tweens/teens in Grades 6 to 9 on Saturday, from 6-8pm. Prizes for best costumes!

🎃 SkyZone is getting into the spooky spirit Saturday with staff in costume & a series of special Halloween games & contests! Wear your costume, too – though no masks during jump time.

☠️ The Atlantic Wildlife Institute in Sackville is hosting its Spook Walk again this year. Admission is $5 (suggested), open to all. It’s approximately a 15 slow walk through ghouls, witches, and more – with an additional trail with added spooks if you’re up for more of a fright! Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather. Starts at 6:30pm Saturday.

☠️🎃 Shediac is turning Town Hall into a haunted house on Saturday! The less scary experience takes place 1-3pm, with a scarier version from 7-9pm. This is a free event; non-perishable donations for Vestiaire St-Joseph accepted.

🎃 Mommy Connections Moncton is holding its first annual Halloween Haunt for littles & their parents. Enjoy a craft, treat, and a professional photo of your family in costume! Happening Sunday at Reconnect Health Centre’s Studio. Cost is $25/family; register in advance as spaces are limited.

☠️🎃 Riverview High School is transforming itself into a family-friendly spook house this Sunday. Enjoy a walk through the Haunted Hallways, scavenger hunt, treats, and more. Open noon till 3pm; admission is $10, $5 for those 13 & under (with 3 & under free). This is a fundraising event, supporting student council, Atlantic Wellness Centre, and the Lions Sick Children’s Fund.

☠️ For the older, artsy crowd, why not take in a screening of the 1931 classic movie, Dracula, starting Bela Lugosi at the Capitol Theatre on Sunday? Symphony NB will provide the music! This is a pay-what-you-will performance, with two showings at 2pm and 7:30pm.

🎃 Uplands Baptist Church in Salisbury is holding a Trunk or Treat event Sunday at 6:30pm – with prizes for the best trunk! Contact them to register your trunk in advance.

🎃 Steeves House Museum in Hillsborough is holding a Halloween event on Sunday, 1-4pm, with crafts, games, cookie decorating and more.

🎃 Memramcook is hosting a free Halloween public skate at the Eugene (Gene) LeBlanc Arena Sunday from 11:45am to 12:45pm.

🎃 The Wildcats Sunday afternoon game against the Saint John Sea Dogs will be Halloween Sunday Funday, with prizes awarded for best costumes in the stands!

🎃 Bouctouche’s Rotary Park will be filled with spooky and silly animals on Sunday for their Pet Costume Parade!

🎃 Join in the Halloween fun at LaBreeze’s Sunday morning market in Beaubassin East! Costumes encouraged, soup, drinks, and treats will be available – as well as a visit from the Llama-zing Adventures llamas from 10am – 3pm.

🎃 Wacky Wonderful Waffles wants to see your kiddos in their costumes, too! Stop in Monday October 31 between 4 & 9pm; costumes = free ice cream with a colour-changing bowl & spoon! Grab a sandwich, too, to fill those tummies, too.

This one’s a little different, but we love it! The Town of Riverview is inviting its older population to join in the Halloween fun by dressing up & handing out treats along the Riverfront Trail on October 31 from noon until 1pm. The town is providing the treats; register with them if you want to dress up & share the spooky spirit with other trail users that afternoon! (The event is geared to those ages 55+.)

NON-HALLOWEEN EVENTS & IDEAS

Friday night the Wildcats host the Gatineau Olympiques at the Avenir Centre.

Fridays are full with free public skating options! Parents & tots (with sticks) are on the ice at Dieppe’s AJL rink 9:30-10:30am. Parents & tots are also welcome to skate for free Fridays at Moncton’s Superior Propane Arena (10-11am) & the Kay Arena (10:15-11:15am). Free public skating is also available at the Kay Arena from 3:30-4:30pm.

On Saturday, there’s free public skating at Dieppe’s AJL rink from 6:15-7:15pm, and on Sunday from 2:15-3:!5pm. Dieppe also has free public skating on Sunday at the UNIplex from 3:30-4:30pm.

The fall Record Expo is taking place at the Riverview Lions Club on Saturday, 10am – 5pm. Admission is $5.

There’s a D&D group for ages 13-18 at the Moncton Library on Saturday afternoons. Open to beginners with new campaigns beginning regularly. Email mplib@gnb.ca for details & registration.

Innovative Hybrid Wrestling returns to Riverview’s Coverdale Rec Centre this Saturday. Check their event page for information on kids’ pricing & more!
The Indo Canada Association of Greater Moncton will host its Diwali festival Sunday afternoon at the Moncton Coliseum. Open to everyone, the event features cultural performances, food, & more. Tickets available in advance; $30 each for non-members.

Animals lovers might want to book a walk with the herd at Llama-zing Adventures or a horseback ride at Boyle Family Farm, or a visit to Beloved Miniature Horses.

Great spaces to appeal to a variety of ages & interests are Hop Skip Jump!SkyZone (Glow Zone fun on Fridays & Saturdays!), & DIY StudioOlder kids might want to try laser tag at Marco’s Clinic, climbing next door at FitRocks Climbing Gym, or maybe test their wits at Room Escape Atlantic or Mystery Moncton Mystere. There’s also the Moncton Sports Dome on Friday nights for laser tag, Just Dance, Xbox & Nintendo gaming.

Glow times are back Fridays & Saturdays at Fairlanes Bowling in Moncton! We also love Bowlarama in Dieppe (be prepared for the arcade section!) and The Marvelous Holy Bowly in Riverview.

Don’t forget Resurgo PlaceDoiron HouseMoncton Public Library, or a visit to Bass Pro to see the 12,000-gallon freshwater aquarium; stop by to see striped bass, Atlantic sturgeon, trout, perch, and more!

Looking to get wet? Why not check out the swim times at the Pat Crossman Aquatic Centre in Riverview, the Moncton YMCA at Vaughan Harvey, and the Dieppe Aquatic Centre. Both the Moncton & Dieppe pools are great with littles; Dieppe has a sloped entry with a pirate ship, while the Vaughan Harvey YMCA has a separate kiddie pool. The YMCA Moncton North has an indoor splash pad & playground; non-members are welcome.

The City of Moncton offers free drop in gym time for kids in Gr 5 – 8 at the Crossman Centre  (99 Wynwood Drive) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30-4:45pm. The gym is open for Parents & Tots Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10am until noon. You can also walk the indoor track WITH a stroller between 11am and 1pm. There’s also indoor walking at the Moncton Coliseum between 9am and 4pm; call 857-4100 for more info.

The Moncton Market & the Dieppe Market are both open on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, with fantastic options for local goodies.

LOOKING AHEAD

Tickets go on sale November 1st at 7pm for the Moncton Multiples Consignment Sale happening November 19. This one morning only event is THE place to stock up on deals for kid & baby clothes, gear, toys, books, & more. You basically shop 250 yard sales at one time, with everything sorted by size & style!

Make sure November 26 is marked on your calendar for the return of the Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade. If your school, business, or organization is looking to walk/have a float in the parade, you need to register soon!! The theme for 2022 is A North Pole Party. Can’t wait!!
