Wave of Change campaign raising money to help fund free mental health services for New Brunswick youth
The data is clear: depression and anxiety among New Brunswick’s youth is rising. (source: https://nbhc.ca/surveys/2021-2022-student-wellness-survey) Nearly half of our Grade 6 through 12 students report symptoms of anxiety, with almost as many reporting signs of depression. Thankfully, we have a local non-profit organization working tirelessly to expand its efforts to support these students with free, accessible counselling.
Atlantic Wellness kicked off its most ambitious fundraising campaign yet this summer. Wave of Change is tasked with raising several million dollars to ensure services remain in place for many years to come, expanding with the need in the community. The centre’s executive director, Andrew LeBlanc, joins us with an update on the campaign to date, as well as many services provided by Atlantic Wellness.
