Things to Do With the Kids in Moncton This Weekend (March 16-18)

Catch Ferdinand on the big screen for free at Riverview’s Community Hall Friday night. Doors open at 6pm; children must be accompanied by an adult. (We watched this movie recently and then painted some kindness rocks afterward: check it out!)

Start your Saturday off right with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast thanks to the Salisbury Lion’s Club. Kids ages six to 10 are just $3, younger are free; everyone else $8.

It’s another fun weekend at Resurgo Place, with a Saturday morning workshop co-hosted with the Musee Acadian de l’Universite de Moncton. Join in the fun of creating toys from recycled household objects (included with admission). Be sure to check out the amazing travelling exhibit, Kids Celebrate, too – and the new editorial cartoon exhibit opening this weekend.

The Sackville Library will be hosting a Celebration of Books for Children on Saturday with several authors scheduled to read.

The Moncton Library will featuring a Brazilian storytime on Saturday afternoon.

The Cineplex Family Favourites feature this week is Shrek; watch for the original Space Jam next weekend, and Hop for Easter weekend!

Michaels has Easter-themed crafts scheduled for its Kids’ Club this weekend, while Scholar’s Choice is offering lots of St. Patrick’s Day themed activities during its weekly Smart Saturdays hands-on event.

It’s a Kids’ Fishing Weekend at Bass Pro, with a casting challenge, bait toss challenge, photos, crafts, and more – including a fishing workshop for kids with Julia & Sarah Gilbert on Saturday afternoon.

The Moncton Youth Orchestra presents its Spring Concert on Saturday afternoon at Bernice MacNaughton High School. Free admission!

The Moncton Magic host the Cape Breton Highlanders Saturday night at the Coliseum.

Sunday the place to be is Carte Blanche Upcycled Furniture & Accessories – we’ll be there co-hosting two rock painting workshops! We have one session from 10am to noon and another from 1pm to 3pm. Both sessions are bilingual and cost $20 per child (adults are free – we do need you to stay), with the money being donated to a local charity. Contact the shop to secure your spot – the space is limited!

The Moncton Public Library is hosting a storytime in Arabic on Sunday afternoon.

The Magnetic Hill Zoo is open on Sundays this month; 11am to 3pm.

Still looking for some maple syrup and pancakes? Shediac is holding a special breakfast and maple tasting Sunday morning!

All the recent snow should make for some great discoveries during the NatureKids Sackville Winter Tracking Snowshoe excursion on Sunday morning! Registration and your own snowshoes are required.
