Things to do With the Family in Moncton this Weekend (April 20-22)

There’s a little more hint of spring in the air this weekend – maybe because some of our favourite spring events are returning!

It’s Frye Festival time! A fantastic literary event for our community, particularly that annual Kids Fest, happening Saturday at the Moncton Library. Enjoy readings, Mascot Palooza, therapy trailblazers, and lots of book-related crafts and games from 9:30am until noon. You can also stop by on Sunday for special Frye Festival storytimes!

It’s a great weekend for literary events in our community! In addition to the Frye Festival, the fabulous Sheree Fitch is coming to Riverview on Saturday for the launch of her latest book, EveryBody’s Different on EveryBody Street. The fun begins at 1pm at the Riverview Library.

Riverview is hosting a community clean up on Saturday from 10am until noon. Meet at the Lions Club and return for a BBQ!

Still looking for a maple sugar fix? Renton Brothers remains open this weekend, but it’s their last of the season!

Playmania is holding an indoor carnival Saturday, fundraising for Inclusion Advocacy SENB. Enjoy a 40 foot obstacle challenge, a 22 foot dual lane slide, and much more! There will also be games, cotton candy, popcorn, and an afternoon BBQ. A family pass for four is $30.

The Clayspace is holding a great chance to make a surprise for Mom for Mother’s Day! Drop the kids off at the studio to the two-hour session (morning or afternoon) and return in two weeks to pick up the finished, wrapped gift!

Scholar’s Choice Smart Saturday activities will have an Earth Day theme this week.

Toys R Us is holding a ‘Today we Play’ event on Saturday where you can test out Little Tikes sports sets and other outdoor toys.

Michaels has a tye dye workshop in the afternoon and Earth Day crafts in the morning; there are costs associated with both.

Chapters is holding a Bring Back The Bees event on Saturday morning.

The Cineplex Family Favourites feature is Pup Star: Better 2Gether.

(You can always find links to these weekly events, as well as details on local family-friendly businesses like the trampoline parks, play spaces, swimming, and more, on our MEGA LIST of things to do with the family in Moncton!)

Sunday is Earth Day. Stop by the Dieppe Market for a great community event, on from 9am to 4pm. The day begins with free all-ages yoga, a real food & green living expo, a seed swap, kids’ activities including First Nation round dancing and face painting, door prizes, and more!

There’s also a great Ecofair planned for Salisbury at the Village Office, from noon until 4pm. There will be Earth Day activities, including an opportunity to plant your own bean, a scavenger hunt, bottle drive, sports activities, electronics recycling, and more, including local vendors that have an environmentally responsible focus. Snacks available for purchase: bring your refillable bottles and containers! There will also be a pay it forward table; bring an item to trade! This is meant to be a zero-waste event!

Pssst! Don’t forget – the best shopping day of the year is coming up! Check out our handy list of what you should have in the kids’ closets before you go – and our tips for making the most of shopping a consignment sale! A great way to honour Earth Day – making sure thousands of gently-used baby and kids’ items are reused in the community!
