40+ Things to Do with the Family Santa Claus Parade Weekend in Moncton

Some big events this weekend, folks! We’ve got the official Holiday Season kick-off with Christmas at the Coliseum, The Antler Breakfast, Light Up Riverview, and the Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade! All the hip-happenin’ events are listed right here in one spot, so you can get you family’s weekend activities planned out faster than you can say Jimminy Christmas!

The 32nd Annual Turner’s Christmas at the Coliseum is on this weekend, featuring gift ideas for everyone on your list. With over 200 exhibitors to choose from you will find arts, crafts, food, antiques, and more. Check it out Friday 2-9pm, Saturday, 10am-9pm, and Sunday, 10am-5pm. PRO TIP: IF you aren’t going to the Santa parade for some reason AND you like to avoid the crowds, Saturday evening is a LOVELY time to check out Turners!

And if you ARE going to the parade, be sure to make plans to stop by Santa’s workshop at Centre Weldon on Saturday from 10am-4pm. This is a lovely little co-op type arrangement with several shops that we just LOVE, all in one great house downtown. You can shop high quality locally made Christmas gifts (why, yes, I’d LOVE a leather cuff, personalized bag, and some new beauty products!), and enjoy door prizes, free Christmas gift wrap, free hot chocolate, and a Christmas photo booth.

My Home Mercantile is celebrating Christmas AND their 2nd anniversary in Moncton with specials all day Saturday, including no tax, special draws, treats, and more.

At Riverview’s St. Paul’s United Church, there will be a Ten Thousand Villages Festival Sale on Thursday, 6-9pm, Friday, 2-9pm, and Saturday, 9am-3pm.

Front Porch Mercantile is holding a Christmas Open House from 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. It will be a fun-filled weekend of treats and presents!

If you’re heading to Sackville, there will be a Christmas Bazaar at St. Ann’s Church Hall from 9:30-11:30am on Saturday. Enjoy Christmas Crafts, Bake Table, “new to you” items, white elephant table, wreaths and a café. The Heart & Pocket Revue: Crafters Market is this Saturday from 9am-4pm at the Royal Canadian Sackville Legion, and Tidewater Books is holding their Annual Customer Appreciation Sale from 1-5pm on Sunday.

This weekend is the annual Christmas in Cornhill, with holiday baking, Christmas goodies, wreaths, boughs, live music, and so much more, presented by the Fundy Fibre Artisans. Open Friday 4-8pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 10am-3pm.

And good information to know: The SPCA Holiday Gift Wrapping elves will be located at the Walmart Supercenter on Plaza Blvd starting November 22 until December 24th from 8am-8pm every day for all of your Holiday wrapping needs! In support of the Greater Moncton SPCA.


Join Mayor Ann Seamans and the Riverview Town Council at the Riverfront trail gazebo on Thursday at 7pm to kick-off the Holiday season and Light Up Riverview! There will be refreshments, treats, carolling, and fun for the whole family. Check out our cover photo – it’s like walking into Stars Hollow! And don’t forget to bring your own mugs to make this a wonderfully sustainable event. If you can’t make it out for the light up, be sure to make time this holiday season to head to the riverfront to enjoy this amazing display!

Light Up Riverview also marks the start of Riverview’s Business Brilliance campaign. Visitors and residents are invited to search for the best local light display between November 21 to December 25. Plus, shopping at participating locations will earn you a chance to WIN $1,000 in local gift cards!

The Village of Memramcook invites you to get into the Holiday Spirit and submit a photo of your 2019 Gingerbread House! Photos will be accepted until December 15 and will then be posted on Facebook and at the Municipal Building so that the public can vote for a winner. How fun is that? Gingerbread houses were a HUGE part of the family tradition when Mama Pickle was growing up; maybe we’ll have to indulge this year!

The Moncton Wildcats are playing a home game v. Chicoutimi Saguenéens at the Avenir Centre on Thursday from 7pm-10pm! Grab tickets for your little hockey fans HERE; with many Anglophone East students off Friday, this is a great chance to enjoy an evening home game without worrying about bedtimes!

All ages are invited to attend Art Party 1121 – Winter Cardinal Fundraiser for the Salvation Army Youth at The Salvation Army Moncton Citadel Community Church from 6:30-9:30pm.

River of Pride and UBU Atlantic – Transgender Action Community invite you to the Board Game Hangout at Dieppe Public Library from 6-8pm, an entertaining evening of board games! All ages, abilities, and persons are welcome!


The 16th Annual Antler Breakfast hosted by the Greater Moncton Men’s Progress Club is on this Friday morning from 6:30-9:30am at the Delta Beauséjour, in support of local children’s charities. Don your red antlers and join in the family fun with Christmas carols, teddy bear sales, a 50/50 draw, and a yummy breakfast! Don’t forget, YOU GET A FREE WILDCATS GAME TICKET with every ticket purchase!

The Magnetic Hill Zoo is offering another English one day camp for children aged 5 to 7 years during the planned school break on November 22. Camp runs from 8am-5:30pm and the cost $40/child. Children will have loads of fun learning about animals and meeting new friends. Includes crafts, games, visiting the animals, and more! Registration is limited and completed online. The Memramcook Public Library is hosting a morning of free games this Friday at 10am, and the Riverview Public Library is hosting a special French Storytime from 10:30-11:15am.

Crandall Theatre Presents: It’s a Wonderful Life at Crandall University. Showtimes are Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm. (Show recommended for ages 12+)

MOSAIC presents a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration, from 6-10pm at Mt. Allison in the Wallace McCain Student Centre. The event will consist of various celebratory activities in Tweedie Hall as well as a movie screening in Dunn 108.

As part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Intercolonial Railway coming to Sackville in 1869, Live Bait Theatre is presenting a special community production of The Intercolonial Railway: Ties That Bind. Showtimes are Friday at 7:30pm, and Saturday at 2pm and 7:30pm at the Sackville United Church. Admission is by donation and seating is limited to 50 people. To reserve a seat, contact the Live Bait Theatre.

The fabulous Lennie Gallant performs his holiday show, The Innkeeper’s Christmas, at the Riverview Arts Centre at 7:30pm.


It’s the big day, the kick off to Christmas, one of the biggest Santa parades in the whole country! The annual Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade starts at 5pm, beginning at the corner of Cameron and Main Street in Moncton and running to the corner of Champlain and Paul Street in Dieppe. The annual Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting Ceremony will coincide with the parade at Moncton City Hall. Free festive treats will be served in the City Hall lobby from 5-6pm, and the tree lighting will take place in the City Hall Plaza at 5:30pm. Santa Claus is expected to pass by in the parade shortly after 6pm!

Santa Parades and Winter Festivals in Southeastern New Brunswick

Everyone is invited to join the Chignecto Naturalists’ Club Annual Field Trip. Participants will be lead to see seabirds and land birds at Cape Jourimain and around the old ferry landing at Cape Tormentine, 9am-3pm. This trip is classified as “easy,” with a total of about two kilometers of walking on level ground.

Boyle Family Farm/Hillside Farms is holding their Christmas Season Grand Opening from 10am-6pm this Saturday, marking the first day open for the season selling fresh cut Christmas trees. There will be a petting zoo for the kids, tons of photo opportunities, hot chocolate, music, and fun!

And we’re putting the finishing touches on a guide to places throughout New Brunswick where you can head to pick your own Christmas tree this year; stay tuned for that!

The Memramcook Public Library is hosting Story Time in Pajamas on Saturday at 10am. Come in your PJs for stories and crafts, and doggies are welcome!

Glamour paws photography boutique is holding another Christmas Quick Pic Promo for your doggos! Drop in for a mini session between 10am-3pm, no appointment necessary.

You’re invited to the 1st Moncton Scouts Dessert Party for all-you-can-eat desserts plus Chicken Fricot, tea, coffee, juice, stocking stuffers and a crafts table! 11am-3pm at St George’s Anglican Church.

Cineplex’s $2.99 family favourite movies continue every Saturday. This weekend, enjoy The Polar Express 3D, playing at 11am at Cineplex Cinemas Dieppe.

Witness some of the state of the art projects that are underway and being tested at the Irving Research Centre and Tree Nursery in Sussex with the Nature Moncton Field Trip. Meet at 11:45am at the Moncton Coliseum parking area.

Families are invited to the Hillsborough Public Library from 1-4pm for Family Board Game Afternoon. Challenge your own family or another to a friendly game.


If you’re still looking for some holiday photos, there will be indoor Christmas mini sessions from 9am-4pm on Sunday at Thibodeau Designs and Christmas mini sessions from 10am-4pm at L.Bardsley Photography on Sunday and Monday.

November is Financial Literacy Month! Celebrate the occasion by making a cute Felt Piggy Bank (11am-12pm, ages 11+) at the Moncton Public Library. Then, ages 11-18 are invited to attend Financial Literacy for teens: Goal Setting, teaching youth the importance of setting goals to help make dreams achievable. (Registration required)

From 1-2:30pm at the Moncton Public Library there will be a Paint Afternoon Session for ages 11+; $5 per person for materials.

Also at the Moncton Public Library, it’s FREE Family Movie Day, showing The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn on the BIG screen! Showtimes are 1pm in English, 3pm in French. Free popcorn!

Bring the family out to cheer on the Moncton Magic at they host the Raleigh Firebirds at 2pm at the Avenir Centre. Get tickets HERE.

Come listen to Maurice Belliveau, Brenda Doiron, Scott & Gerald Delhunty and Colleen Duguay at the Acoustic Sunday Xmas Show, 2-4pm at the Shediac Multipurpose Centre.

The Hospice SENB Holiday Gathering will be held at Days Inn & Suites Moncton this Sunday. All families are invited to come out and enjoy FREE Swimming at 2pm, crafts at 3pm, and pizza with Santa at 4pm!!

Get those bells jinglin’ with the Kitchen Party Christmas Concert at the Albert County Museum from 2-4pm. Enjoy festive tunes by a variety of guest performers, featuring fiddles, guitars, banjo, mandolin, double bass, step dancers, and highland dancers. Children will also enjoy a special Christmas story.

Or, if a traditional, harmonious choir is more your flavour, check out the Concert de Noël – Choeur Beauséjour from 2-4pm at the Central United Church to put you in the holiday spirit!

For our beloved crafters, a Holiday Macramé Workshop is taking place at MacArthur’s Nurseries from 5-7pm. Create your own macramé plant hanger led by local 14-year-old entrepreneur Maegan MacDougall of Love Knots Macramé! Light refreshments (including Kissing Rocks kombucha) and snacks will be provided, plus take home a FREE plant for your hanger!

Or, check out the Merry and Bright workshop, hosted by Waterside Designs from 7-9pm. Create a two-toned design on a chalkboard surface, and embellish with a Christmas decoration and ribbon.
